The stupid thing is, I was making that exact jump all last week, as part of an exhaustive documenting of the weird control quirks of the many versions, and didn't think of using it in the speed run.

On the original Speccy version, if you jump from the far left onto the left side of the conveyor and hold right, Willy walks to the right. But if you jump from the central platform onto the right-hand side of the same conveyor and hold right, he stands still.
I have fixed that (though not released it yet)

STU:

This stems from our little jaunt into the fabled crumbler territories! It works exactly as it should now!

I cannot see a reason to release it yet as it would mess up the central cavern time.

I was also going to wait a bit and then update the speed-run times to reflect the scores you guys have been getting (adding a handful of seconds so not to make the TOO hard).

Also fixed..
Remaining sparkles in hi score code if completion is skipped when the text is drawn.

NOTE:
The jump-to-conveyor code works so on central cavern because, from the left platform jumping right you land directly on the conveyor, but, from the central portion and jumping right, just before you hit the conveyor you fall 8 pixels. When you fall your movement direction becomes 0, and when 0 if you push in the opposite direction of a conveyors travel, you stay still (and jump vertical)

Well, it's consistent anyway, since TLL doesn't act entirely like the Speccy version, having characteristics of other versions (eg Willy not slowing down if he jumps against a brick wall that's right over his head). Other versions (eg GBA) do let Willy walk along the right-hand side of the conveyor.

It is strange how many different control and collision methods there are in the many versions.

On the Coupe, willy instantly turns on a conveyor (the new levels at least). I should look and see what happens on 'the vat' in the coupe version.
Also, they all have slightly differing jump movements and distances. In MMLL I had to adjust by having settings that govern this and enable levels to still work. "The End" is a point, and also, 'Central Cavern' has a slightly differing jump (not that you would notice - it accounts for a 1 pixel difference in the angles)
On MMLL i made the decision to check above your head prior to a jump as I thought (even in 1983) is was very poor to initialise a jump where there was clearly no space for one to occur. So, you can walk through a passage holding jump and when it is clear above you, you can jump.

The Vat is an interesting one - in several versions including TLL, you collect keys when Willy touches them from the layer above, rather than having to drop onto their level. (This is consistent and as it should be, since you also die if he touches the death blocks in the same way, whereas on the Speccy you do get killed on those but can't collect the keys from the same relative position.)

Also, where's another gap you can squeeze through on Endorian Forest? The best corner-cutting route I can find can still only net me 33 seconds. You guys must be cheating. :-P

That's it. You are therefore required to FILM your speedruns in future before they'll be accepted.

I swear to god you're finding hidden glitches somewhere that no-one knows of. Having played that level to death I can categorically tell you that there are NO MORE HIDDEN JUMPS AND ROUTES TO TAKE. No, you cannot collect those hanging keys while jumping towards the left. No, there is no room for you to jump over that alien while heading left. No, there is no faster way of getting onto the conveyer belt.

I SWEAR TO EVERY DEITY THAT YOU'RE TRYING TO PULL A FAST ONE.

23.740? How in the name of Jeebus?

I can't test because my DS is charging, but unless there's something off somewhere that's letting you jump from the top-right keys back to the conveyor, which shouldn't be possible and certainly isn't on the Speccy, I can't even BEGIN to imagine how that's being done.

Well, having vented, I decided to change one half of my route slightly, which nets me a more impressive 24.232, but I still can't work out how myk managed to chop off five hundredths of a second*, even after replaying the level over and over.

*This may well be inaccurate, for maths in terms of fractions was never my strong point.

I swear I play within the rules, guvnor. I have thought about recording these though - I could try using my phone, but I'd have to strap it to my head or something.

Tell me about it. My subsequent attempts have yet to yield anything better than 23.946!
