I think romanista has one.

I used to, but didn't like it much. I prefer the Japanese-style ball-top sticks.

Yep, they are pretty good. Joysticks are maybe a little on the loose-sidebut otherwise a quality product.

I have one for sale boxed in very good condition (including dreamcast, ps1/ps2, xbox and pc (usb) adapters) I think the USB adapter could also be used on ps3, but not 100% sure on this. PM if interested.

Oops, I should add that its a twin x-arcade (two player) that i'm selling. All decent offers considered tho I'd like to sell it with all the adapters rather than splitting.

Overpriced for what they are. Cheap parts. Build quality ok though.

When it comes to controllers, I'd rather go down the "new" route, to be honest. Can I ask; why are you selling it if it's a good product?

Regarding parts, I understand it's a piece of piss to swap out components if desired and it doesn't invalidate the warranty.

Generally speaking the only people who seem to praise X-Arcade are trying to flog the one they have.

Hori is really the gold standard. If you go for the higher end ones you get the proper arcade parts, but the cheaper ones with the clone parts are plenty good enough for me.

I'm selling beacuse I'm moving in with my girlfriend and a 25" joystick is just one of the many things (numerous synthesizers, my beloved vectrex) aren't going to fit in her flat...

Waiting for the punchline

Only stick I own is a DC one, which I used to love but seems to have a lot of travel these days, making it a bit imprecise for shooters. Hopefully, I've a small sum of money coming to me soon (plus the possibility of redundancy pay :D), so I'd like to treat myself to a decent stick, and maybe another chipped Xbox with a decent sized hard drive. The one I've already got, despite being chipped, offers nothing above a standard one other than the playing of copies. The one I used to have had a decent dash and HD-ripping options etc. Wonder if you can still pick them up?

If you are looking for something that'll work on a variety of systems (with PS2->whatever adapters) and is fairly easily moddable (for sanwa sticks/buttons) apparently a good option is this : http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-m-49-en-70-3d9n.html

PS2/USB stick, not apparently great as-is but a great shell/pcb for modding, so I have read.

You have to have a ps2 keyboard plugged into the stick, and the ps2 connection to the pc didn't work with my mother board. And the usb converters where constantly sold out on the site. Im gonna be buying it back off my freind though as he hasn't got into mame. And you can replace the pcb now. But yea unless you really need a 2 player single unit get a hori stick instead. Im only bothering cos' it's cheeper for me.

yup i have one, bought 5 years ago... like it's sturdiness, and that i can use it on lots* (robotron on mame is great on it), would prefer a nice ball on it (have the hori stick for 360, with a really nice ball), but it does let me play dreamcast, psx and cube shooters rather excellently

* even got a weird mail by them a few days ago:
360-adaptor available:
Dear Gamer,

We are pleased to finally announce Xbox 360™ support for the X-Arcade™ Joystick with a new adapter shipping November 5th. You can now use your X-Arcade™ to dominate your favorite arcade and fighting games on your 360™.

While we have not obtained approval for a directly-connected device, you can use any Playstation 2 adapter and a Wired Xbox 360™ Gamepad to legally comply with Microsoft's end user license. The adapter will also allow you to connect any Playstation 2™ game controller or device with your Xbox 360™

I wonder how it handles Sensi Soccer? Gotta be better than a 360 pad, that's for sure.

The Hori Stick is also great for R-Type, Golden Axe and most other retro games on XBLAH. Still delighted that I picked mine up for £14.99 pre-owned at Gamestation. I understand they're rather pricier now.

Loved my X Arcade but we mostly used it on MAME and NeoGeo emus on the Xbox. Not sure how it would fair with modern beat-em-ups. It's basically an olde-fashionedy arcade cabinet stick in a box.

I want one entirely for retro gaming. How's it handle old arcade racers like Outrun?

Disappointment

The Hori sticks have been bettered by the MadCatz fighting sticks now.

It comes in two grades. The standard Fight Stick (rear) comes in a reasonable casing with MadCatz buttons and stick. They are far, far better than the ones Hori ship. But the big selling point is that the buttons and stick are connected via jumpers rather than solder, so you can effortlessly swap them out for proper arcade parts from Sanwa or Semitsu. You can pick one up for around £50.

The Fight Stick Tournament Edition is the fucking daddy though. Massive panel modeled after the Viewlix arcade cabinet, a compartment for stowing the USB cable and it's already fitted with a Sanwa stick and buttons. They retail for £120, but you should find one for around £90.
