Has anyone else seen the trailer for the Easter Special yet? It was just on BBC1, first time I've seen it so I don't know how much exposure it's had yet.

My first impressions are as long as it's not one of those 'all the best bits are in the trailer' episodes it could well be pretty awesome. I'm actually quite excited.

Even if it is terrible I'll just spend the entire episode perving at Michelle Ryan, so it's a win-win really!

The Planet of the Dead is on April 11th. Wow, I sound like an advert!

Since this episode is a one-off, before RTD tries his hardest to ruin Who with the BIGGEST BIG THING EVER IN THE HISTORY IF BIGDOM, it has the potential to be rather good. It's the next three I'm worried about, especially if any of the rumours are true (not least the 'all the old companions are coming back' thing).

I wonder how much of a reset switch Moff will pull when he takes over.

Michelle Ryan? She's ok, I guess. I enjoyed Bionic Woman but she didn't seem anything particularly special. I haven't seen the trailer for Doctor Who though.

Agreed. There's an interview with RTD in the new SFX magazine. I couldn't bring myself to buy it, even with the promise of a free X-Men Origins: Wolverine t-shirt (at WHSmiths if anyone is interested.) The interview looked pretty gruesome though, sample quote "I can't wait to kill off the Tenth Doctor"

I bought that to read on a recent flight. It just made be fear how bad the last three episodes are going to be.

After the Christmas special, I had decided not to watch Doctor Who any more. Still, the Easter special is at least worth a try, I guess. But, yeah, I'm dreading the D. Tennant finale too, even as someone who avoids searching out spoilers. RTD should've gone after series 2, in my opinion.

I don't think it could get much worse than the Davros 2 parter. That gave the impression of being a last hurrah for Rus and his team, so why let him do the whole thing again?

I'm still optimistic though that the new writing team, and particularly Moffat, will have too much imagination to reheat the RTD big season finales again.

I have the idea that the Doctor has to erase himself from history in order to heal all the rifts his interfering has caused, and this leads him into direct conflict with his two recent manifestations, who he has to kill to complete his task. But each retro-suicide causes a heart-attack, which leads to the death of this Doctor and brings in the new with a clean slate and

Yet there's the horrible feeling that MS-DOC will make his debut on that damned beach in Norway by seeing Rose off back to her closed and unreachable alternative universe yet again.

I'm expecting something completely insane. THE DESTRUCTION OF TIME ITSELF!!!! seems to be logical next step after the escalating threat to the Earth, The Universe, ALL PARALLEL UNIVERSES! progression. And at this point, 'Doctor Who' Earth kind of does need resetting, because it's now diverged so much from Actual Earth. Britain at least, after PM Jones, Saxon, and several hugely visible alien invasions (although I forget how many of those got reset already...,) there's a complicated line of alternate modern history there.

I'm rather hoping for a companion from, say, fifty years in the future; so we can see how the earth has developed with half a century of (official) Alien contact.

Are humans Xenophobic towards Aliens?

Are they effectively conquered or colonised by them (as has usually happened in human history when a group with superior technology meets another).

These are some of the interesting question RTD wouldn't ask, but Moffat might possibly do.

I also think she should have a dog that absolutely hates the Doctor.

Actually, on balance, I thought that was a pile of shit.

Yet another pile of festering garbage from the pen of RTD. When's he leaving again ................. ?

Oh, and will someone please shoot Murray Gold? The guy doesn't seem to have any musical aptitude when it comes to scoring Who.

Well that was shit.

I read in the Radio Times that the Doctor is going to discover something that changes something fundamental in him. There was also a slight hint that the last two specials are alomost a two parter. I hope he finds out the Time Lords aren't dead, the Time War wasn't a nable cause it was planned genocide and tehy have been manipulating him ever since. Or something.

So very tired

Blimey, but you're a bunch of miserable old buggers. I thought it was joyous and funny and exciting and lovely, and quite possibly the best slice of hour-long Who yet. (I've enjoyed all the Chrimbo specials, but this story just seemed to hang together perfectly.)

My only misgiving was the fact that Ms Ryan didn't get to be a full-time companion. (At least, not yet. She did work with Mr Moffat on Jekyll, after all; perhaps she'll come swooping back later with her big flying bus. I jolly well hope so, anyway.) She was fantastically groovy.

The "look into the future" stuff is wearing very thin now. It's supposed to be all mysterious, but since we know it's about the Master returning but don't worry, Doc, because Rose and Martha and Donna will be back to help it all falls flat.

We KNOW the Doctor is nearing his death, but in RTD's world death isn't the crimp on your career it used to be back in the olden days, even if you're a mortal one-generation only human.
The Doctor was hardly bothered when he nearly regenerated in the last series climax, yet Russ is going to spin out the doom-laden premonition stuff for all it's worth.

And why didn't they just call the girl Lara Croft and be done with it? I thought the idea of the Doc having to play second fiddle for once was interesting, but didn't last long enough to go anywhere.

Yet again the Doctor saves the world by using a piece of junk that just happens to be lying around;

WHY DOESN'T HE CARRY THIS SORT OF STUFF AROUND WITH HIM, EH?

Haaaaang on a second.... you're HIM aren't you!!! No wonder you liked it! ;)

As for Michelle Ryan being a full time companion, apparently before they cast ehr they had to check with the people writing and casting the next series to see if they where going to use her, if they had said yes she wouldn't have appeared in this episode. Which is a crying shame frankly.

Also, what was the point of all the other people on the bus? They contributed bugger all.

Unlike Keff Mculloch. There was a man who knew how to score Who.

I enjoyed it. It had a flying double decker bus and a cracking arse. That's me sold.
