I am new to TSP, and this part of NationStates in general. When I first started NationStates I defended a lot because I wanted to be the 'good guy'. I got frustrated with the direction our region was going in (never took action) and decided to leave. I then became a raider, which has so far been my favorite part of NS, because of all the great people I have met. I am also a senator in Taijiu and have been for a little bit.

My goal in TSP was to try something new and interesting, and so far I am enjoying myself here. I would like to get more involved with the government, and I figured a good first step would be going with what I know best.

If elected, I will do everything in my power to help TSP.

Thanks for your time and I hope you will vote for me.

Very good, very good!

I'm curious as to what organizations you've worked for in the past. No big deal, just curious is all.

I dabbled in a lot of regions at one point but the only ones I spent any quality time in was

Defender: Abyss
Raider: DEN
Neither: Taijitu

I am curious to know; what should the South Pacific expect regarding our armed services' future under your administration? As you know, our army is small and more of a token force. Our Air Force and Navy are non-existent, and we seem to lack any sort of chain of command and structure (eg. ranks, uniforms, etc.) In addition, it seems that our intelligence branch is in a similar state (though with all honesty, they could be quite active and well-funded without us knowing it... :eyes:)
What sort of budget allocations will be made to expand the security department?

The first order of business would be to recruit for our army when new people join to give them an idea of what they can do. As far as ranks, it may be a good idea, but something simple like Recruit, trooper, low officer, high officer, and general. Just because of our limited size. As far as intel goes, I have no current plan, but I would say it would focus more on observing then spying and using resources.

And what of the Air Force and Navy? I think that they are vital components of our armed services... especially when you take our region's geography into consideration.
My suggestion would be to find two generals for the Army and Air Force and an Admiral for the Navy, then task those CICs with organizing their branch of service and recruiting. That way it doesn't all fall on you and it gets the job done.

On a side note to anyone in general who may have the answer... do we have a map of the South Pacific with our nations staked on it? A map would be very useful to the Security Department...

This spot has to do with the security of the region, no RP security. As far as I know.

I understand that this thread isn't an RP. What I'm asking about and suggesting is serious... we need to break away from the common mistake of wrapping all our armed services up into one entity called "the army". We need to break our "army" up and form an actual allied military, comprised of an Army, Navy, and Air Force. Now these forces aren't nation specific, as the South Pacific isn't a single nation. Our military would be a coalition force much like the Allied Expeditionary Force (made up of the USA, UK, Canada, and others) that hit the beaches of Normandy. North Devia has its own Army, Navy, and Air Force... but when they are needed, they will join in and fight alongside the other nation's forces in the Allied forces.

Hmm, your ideas are interesting for a larger force. It looks like you would be good in the army. You should join it!

Fudgie's 'Fronk'...

Can you tell me what links you retain with the organisations/regions you have mentioned and detail any conflict of interests including sympathies you may harbour that are not in keeping with the culture and laws of The South Pacific?..

Currently I am planning raids with the DEN and a senator for Taijitu. If TSP laws consider my over all identity, the yes my ties are in direct violation of Article 2 of TSP laws, however, if my nation here, Southern Bellz, is considered separate from my other nations then there is no conflict within the laws. (Also it might be easier if my forum name was changed to Southern Bellz if that is possible.)

The only other conflict I could see happen is the event of a raid on TSP, which then, as a citizen here, I would do everything in my power to stop it. I have been open with TSP from the start because a trait I value most in someone is the ability to trust them.

Now I have spent my entire time in NS military, and I would say I know a good deal about it. With the information I have gained over the years, I hope to strenghten the ground work put into this regions armed forces and make sure, that no matter what happens, TSP will have the ability to keep herself and her allies safe.

hmmm...

As a former raider, and prior a defender, I must lay a bit of caution. Don't get me wrong, I think you've got a shot here. But realize many feeder regions sympathize not with raiders, but with defenders, regardless of their record. Therefore, it is difficult to allow someone into the minister of security position for someone who is an active raider.

This position requires a lot of loyalty to TSP. A lot. People who held this position in the past were pretty much either loyalists or known defenders. It's just the way feeder politics go... course, it's mainly due to past events. So it is always awkward for a feeder region to elect a current raider to a position of status. It can be done, but it's awkward. Especially considering TSP has, for the most part, been completely pro-defender.

I'm currently running for the Minister of Justice position. Therefore, it'll be my responsibility to ensure your loyalty is secure if I am elected, and if you are elected, I assume. Naturally, everyone else will be watching as well to make certain your position is not biased. And while I am thoroughly retired, my eyes are still everywhere!

If you are considering running, please think this over. Also, please read over our region's history - it helps explain why we're a little over-the-top when it comes to watching out for people. If you come back, do all of that, and still want to run for it, I'll vote for you when elections come, mainly because I like to see positions get filled by people who seem active and desiring to help. It's nice to see people running and treating this like a true election, as far as I'm concerned.
