Hmmm... I've always wanted to get into voice-acting, so this could be a good start to that. * signs name on sheet * |

Walks up to the stage and the house lights come up and puts a briefcase on a table in the middle of the stage. “I’d like you all to consider for a moment the difference between acting and role playing.” “There are many things that are similar. You take on a persona of someone who isn’t you. For instance if you go to any of the shops or businesses on Market Street the person who started that thread is now playing the shop keeper or a person running the business. Some parts I’m sure are the personality of the person but there will also be role playing as well.” “What is the big difference between the 2 then?” “An actor has a script to follow a role player doesn’t. Role playing is much more akin to improve than to acting.” “Both react to situations. An actor is told by the script what to do where to stand what will be said, how things are suppose to go. A role player is unrestricted except by the confines of the story and what has happened so far.” “There is a great line in one of the Indiana Jones movies. Indy and the women have just killed one of the bad guys I think and she looks at Indy and says “So what is the next part of your plan?” and Indy replies “What plan I’m making this up as we go along.”. What a terrific line. That is what role playing is. Taking a story and making it up as we go along.” “Reactions are the key in role play. There is a story and it may seem to be heading in a particular way. Any of the players can make it change by taking an unexpected action.” “When this dose happen and maybe even messes up something you had planned what do you do? Some will just quit. The best role players will see new vistas of possibilities. Some out of anger have done something to bring the story to abrupt halt.” “I want the students here to see the possibilities. Don’t limit yourself to confines that unless the story goes in the direction you want it to you will stop playing.” “Our next session we will do a small role play at the end of the lesson. Our 3rd session we will set up a story line for a major role playing story which will be open to any member of these boards to be a part of. So I want you to consider what kind of story shall we do will it be in the present, past, or future? Will it be a comedy, serious, mystery, sci-fi,or something else. The possibilities are almost endless.” “Okay back to reactions.” “Never expect a particular reaction. You will be wrong far more than you will be correct. ;)” “Okay I’m going to give you a situation and let’s see what kind of reactions we can come up with. Anyone can contribute” “You’re a woman in her mid twenties, you have been a hooker since age 16. You recently meet a man and have fallen in love head over heals. Your someplace doesn’t matter where and a guy who looks somewhat sleazy comes up to you and offers you money to have sex with him. So what are some reactions you could have?” “Floor is now open for your suggestions about the situation.” |

(I would just like to enforce how important it is to go along with what someone else says, if I may. If someone adds to a scene, never, ever, ever, ever say 'No' and go back to what you were doing. Not only does it make for a bad scene, but it's also just plain mean. Sorry, I've been itching to say that for a while.) A reaction to that, I would imagine, would be eventual acceptance. If prostitution was all you knew since age 16, unrequited love wouldn't be quite enough to revese your ways and start thinking about an acceptible sort of future. I say eventual, though, because I think That there would certainly be some conflict in the decicion. |

Excellent Semartica. That is one reaction. I invite all who read these posts to comment as Semartica did as long as it is on subject. Okay there are many more possible reactions so anyone else just put it out there for us. |

Surely you can come up with some more. How about the women gives the guy the ride of of his life and then gose to the guy she's in love with and gives him the money cause he's her pimp? |
