Welcome to the embassy of The New Meritocracy! Maxx Barry wrote a brief news article about us almost a year ago now that still holds true.

It's a bit alarming when some players create a web site for their NationStates region that's more professional than NationStates itself. But that's what the residents of The New Meritocracy have done -- check out their handiwork at merit.jink.org. The site features just about everything a region could ever want, including a map, a charter, and a truly amazing collection of colorful, well-presented statistics.

Date: 12 Dec 2003

The link to the new article itself can be found in the website link of my profile (the "www" icon under this message)

Instead of 80 nations, we now have 170 more or less. The Meritocracy numbers includes personages of esteem such as Lady Rebels, Bistmath, Meanskirk, myself, and the SP delegate, Shaft, as Senators within our halls. I apologize if I've forgotten anyone.

I too am a SP citizen as well as former Sec Intel and Ambassador to Canada here. I still look on the SP as the largest and most influential region in NS which is exactly what it was when I was more active here. I look and I see Shaft, Tsunamy, Fudge, Slacker, Yulia, Punk D, Auriallis, CR, and of course parrttyy :band and I know that the SP remains in excellent hands.

Again Welcome to the embassy of The New Meritocracy.

Well thank you Geo. I take that as high praise :) I am currently serving as Tribune (the Merit equivilant of Sec Justice with some differences)

I also have word that I will be appointed the Merit Ambassador to the SP in short order.

Good to be back even on a reduced NS involvement level (compared to before) due to a continuing busy RL schedule (all good) :D

Peace

The New Meritocracy has released the transcripts of the TYW/RRA negotiations to the general public. We obtained permission from all the participants before doing so.

As initially posted by Carinthe here:

The war between the RRA and TYW is over. This is cause for a big party.

I have ordered all soldiers to leave The Rejected Realms. Cheers to everyone who positively contributed to this great effort. This is cause for a celebration. I kinda have mixed feelings, because this war could easily have been stopped the day it started, but I will not dwell on the past. Some of our senators are still sceptical, but I personally am relieved. We have a future to attend to, and don't let negativity stand in its way.
I am sorry if I don't thank everybody personally. There have been to many involvements, not to mention the negociators behind the screens. I have faith that this is over now. Remember; The end of a war, can be the beginning of a friendship. (Is that a quote?)

Cheers everybody! Up to a peaceful future!

I, for one, am very happy to see this. It shows that through keeping the lines of communication open, honorable people can work out their differences. I personally salute Carinthe, Greymarshes, Old Lutheran and all of the many, many other people that worked for peace. A job well done. (And what a great leaving-office present for me, eh? :D)

To a future filled with peace and prosperity!

Excelsior,
Primero Lucianno

Our website and forum are always open.

We've had a problem with an RP. I can't say much more because I'm legally involved- just go to our site.

That would be where Eureka was turned into a smouldering crater by Bumpy? I don't recall your exact part in the Nuclear exchange.

It was much more than just that Black Adder. There were many people involved and the best way to see the whole picture is to go to The Merit's message board.

At the moment we are about to have our Tribune elections. Old Lutheran (known here as Promise of Joshua) is standing down. Sexanddope and Pittsland are the two major candidates as of time of writing.

The current Praetor, Yoco, has stepped down due to RL issues. A replacement has yet to be confirmed.

Sadly, the Meritocratic Isles, founding province of this body, has officially seceeded from us, as a result of the Pebbles affair. A number of Senators have reapplied under new nations here, so we will still have the pleasure of their company in the Senate.

As you are aware, the Senate has been dissolved and we are essentially hitting the Big Reset Button.

I am no longer Ambassador to The South Pacific, but speaking as a Meritocrat, I would like you to establish an embassy at our new site.

I've asked to try and get a statement together on it, but it's a complex story involving the return of Moldavi and the Pebbles RP.

Having just left TNM and taken up residence here. I will tell you that the founder (Winni), unilaterally stripped all government officials, (including the Consul and me the Tribune) of all rank, tore up the legal code and the Charter and said 'we' are starting again, which he did my setting up a (brilliant) new forum. However he has said he will insist on freedom to RP fully and to full duality, which were two of the main aims of the initial coup leaders (Thomasia and Eureka with a lot of help from Eli, Winni and others), who left the region after a nuclear strike stopped their initial coup attempt.

Personally I view it as a coup by the founder, hence my departure. Having said that it appears the majority are happy to remain under such a system. I was not.
