Ok, Cabin 2 is just right for you! Port side at the foot of the forward companionway ladder (stairs). We will be sailing in the pritected waters of Penobscot Bay and its surrounds plus the schooner has a very kind motion. Mal de Mer is VERY unlikely indeed! Thanks for signing on.

On a windless day in the Market Street Harbor, an image from the past comes ghosting out of the fog under the power of her small engine. Zen in the Wind heads for her dock after an uneventful crossing from the Maldives. ![]() Jack ties upthe boat , hangs up his sign: "Schooner for Hire. Day Trips or Long Cruises. Leave Your Request at the Office." and heads off down Market Street noting that much has changed. "I need a drink!" The Harbour Master, Bob Uppendown, calls by later in the day to greet his old seafaring buddy, but JT is off somewhere on a bender. Reaching into his inside pocket, Bob produces an official looking document headed up "Mooring Rights and Trading Permit Renewal". Jack's application for reinstatement of his "berthright" had been approved. Not only that, but it is the exact same mooring as he previously had. Welcome home Jack. Good to see you back again, and watch out for those darned seagulls. |

A Harley pulls up on the wharf alongside the Zen and a leather-clad figure dismounts. It's Dave. He strolls up the gankplank, removing his helmet and gloves as he moves. "Ahoy Jack," he shouts, being very very careful not to shout 'Hi Jack'. There's no reply, so Dave has a scout around. Mmmmmmmmmm ... nicely appointed cabins. This boat's had a bit of a facelift since the Maldives. No sign of anyone anywhere anyhow, so Dave settles down in a big fluffy chair in the main cabin. He removes his jacket, revealing a telltale Jacobite linen shirt, and drops the jacket on the desk along with his his helmet and gloves. |

JT and Helen race through the darkness, although, the last 100 yards required Helen throwing JT over her shoulder and carrying him to the dock's edge. Breathless but not ruthless, they board the Zen and find Dave (damn he looks good tonight!) awaiting them. |

*Scrambles to the stern and pulls a lever. The transom folds down and a small submarine slides out of the hull and into the water* "Quickly, we have to submerge before they see us. The're spys are everywhere" Helen Dave and Jack clammer into the sub. Jack closes the hatch and heads out to sea submerging to periscope depth. "OK, now we can talk. Dave, I'm really not sure about you, but you are here so I guess I'm going to have to trust you." "Parrrrtay's Scandal Sheet is more than it seems. It is part of a plot to turn its readers into total idiots. If they can gain enough readership, they will be able to take over the entire planet. The Pavarotsi are not journalists, they are operatives. They know that getting the goods on folks like you will sell papers! The problem is the INK! It acts on the brain and is absorbed via osmosis. The more pages you flip, the dumber you get. That little schooner you acquired was used to manufacture and transport the ink. Thats why they gave you such a good price. They need to get you 2 absorbed at all costs. The big question that goes unanswered is whether Parrrrrtay is involved in this plot or is just being used by the conspititors." *Raises the periscope and looks around. It looks quiet on the waterfront. TOO QUIET!* |

Helen and Dave look at each other in disbelief. How could something so outrageous be true? But the fact that JT has both a secret submarine and an extensive knowledge of heretofore unknown weaponry, leads Helen to consider the possibility that she has underestimated her loveable Dutch Uncle. JT, I hardly know what to say, but before we take any action, you need to know that Dave is a person I trust with my life. You have my word on that. Takes Dave's hand and continues... Let's think of options. Dave? Ideas? Wonders if this ties into the fact Ivan Angover may have been spotted recently and the unusual map canister that was found aboard the Navis Amor. JT... do you have any copies of SCANDAL on the Zen?

"Of course not Helen. While I was bringing Zen back home, some associates of mine came out and helped me sweep and scour Zen to make sure she was chem free so to speak. Of late I fear I have been obsessed with Darryayah's G-3 leader Fox Molder's motto: "Don't trust a flippin soul." The thought of the world being overrun by tabloid idiots is more than I can stand. You however are the one exception to the rule of trust I have made and now based on that trust, I am going to have to allow Dave into the loop. Why did you want copies of Scandal? We have plenty of them and a barrel of ink as well at one of my best think tanks in Darryayah" |

Tom Maguire tools in on his Jawa Passing beside the schooner Zen in the Wind, I look on the sleek pleasure craft. Scoffing at the swells who've boarded her, I recognize the Harley of one Dave Judgement. Intriguing. Taking a single bug from the Hills Bros. can, for investigation, I stuff that bad boy in my pocket. The rest of the can, well, I sure hope that the yobos who wanted to keep tabs on my movement have insured them for water damage |

*Watches JT carefully as he adjusts the navigational headings, keeping her hand on Dave's to communicate in code...* <tap tap-tap...> Not sure but JT doesn't seem himself. What do you make of it? *And to JT in a whisper...* Oh yes, well if we had samples, I might be able to have my analysts confirm some of your findings. Yeesh, this just doesn't sound right to me. Parrrtay - in on such a plot? <shakes head> Devious and insatiably curious as a redhead can get, but EVIL? Dave and I did have the BIA go over the Navis Amor pretty thoroughly before we boarded her, but the guy who sold it to us did seem a little loopy. Kept asking for my autograph for the cover of his copy of SCANDAL. You know, the swimsuit edition. Hmmm...

*Looks at Helen and Dave with a totally serious expression* "You're absolutely right, I am not myself. In fact, if I was twins, I'd be a pair a noids!" *Surfaces at the entrance to Darryayah Harbor and waits as 2 of his picket ships open the anti submarine net. Heads to the dock near his palace and is greeted by his some of his security force dressed in issolation suits. The security team scan Helen and Dave and the Series 8 Gonkulator goes crazy with lights and sounds. The security team rushes Jack, Helen and Dave into a clean room and gives them each a large glass of pink and charcoal liquid. "Its ok Helen and Dave, they have finally produced an antidote. Drink it all and then we'll hit the decontamination showers. In about 24 hours, everything will start to make sence to you again." |
