Join us on the Tops’l Schooner Zen in the Wind for the vacation of a lifetime. Good times are mandatory, clothing is not. The Zen in the Wind measures 99 feet overall, 65 feet on deck with a 19 foot beam and draws 7 feet with her centerboard up. Zen in the Wind carries a maximum of 22 guests in 11 cabins. It's hard to describe our cruises. To some people the sailing is the best part, to others it's the scenery. Some rave about the food, and some talk about the people that they get to meet. But all agree, the easy relaxing atmosphere of being on a windjammer in Maine makes it a vacation they can't forget, which may be why so many guests return from year to year. Some have said it is just like sailing into a postcard. Your vacation starts from the minute you walk aboard. You can sense the power and history that an original sailing vessel possesses. The captain (that would be yours truly) and crew welcome you show you to your cabin, and give you an informal tour. It will be your home for the trip, so they will do their best to make sure that you are comfortable Tomorrow morning there will be the excitement of getting underway, but the first night you'll fall asleep knowing you are amongst new friends. Breakfast is served, dishes are done, and with guidance from the crew, you lend a hand hoisting the sails, and help to get the vessel going. It's a day at sea spent watching scenery go by, feeling the wind and sun, eating and relaxing. Seals, eagles, porpoises, and lighthouses, so much to see but you don't have to worry about making reservations for lunch or dinner. You can smell the wonderful things cooking in the galley, fresh homemade breads, soups, desserts. And though you want to save yourself for the evening's lobster bake, when you see lunch you just can't help yourself. It seems a little early to stop, because you really don't want it to end, but you hear the anchor go down, and it's time to help take the sails down. Ah, this is the island where you will have a lobster bake, and you are amazed at how easily everyone gets ashore and how effortless it seems to cook that many lobsters. There appears to be a never-ending supply and you never imagined you'd ever say no to yet another one. Enjoy a walk around the beach while the sunset paints the sky overhead. You wish you could live like this forever, and you wish you'd signed up for a longer cruise. The best part is that tomorrow will be another day spent sailing on the Zen in the Wind. We look forward to welcoming you aboard! |

Bring a variety of clothing as it can be 90 one day and 60 the next. Also, we provide coffee, tea, juices and lemonade. If you want soda, beer, wine or what have you, bring it with you. Depending on wind and weather, we may or may not anchor somewhere where there are facilities, so best to bring a supply for the week. And with Warbird and Argus as paying passengers too! Now we just need a few more passengers to make this happen :-) |

We really arent familiar with badgers. Does he use a litter box or what? If so, my only other concern is the ships mascot, a Macaw named "Charlie Noble". Charlie takes great pleasure in calling dogs over to his cage. When the dog comes over (which is virtually all the time), Charlie bombs him with toys from the top of the cage. Its really a riot to see a German Shepard run away from a 6 ounce green ball of feathers :-) Well, in any case, if the badger can get along with everyone and not cause trouble, he/she is welcome. |

Do you happen to have a specialty in avian exotics? If so, we could definatelyter for part of your passage as Charlie really needs his nails and his little pecker trimmed. We have about 3 dozen or so books aboard, so really don't need a librarian but if you can haul on a line or help raise the anchor, you'll feel right at home. |

Some animals need more care than others. The badgers and parrot will be fine - it's the 2-legged mammals that usually cause the most trouble. <eg> |

I would be glad to serve as the galley helper. I have often performed similar duties on this ship, a privately owned Bird Class Patrol Vessel sailing out of Baltimore. |

I shall come. I have not been aboard a boat for many a month, so I shall look forward to it. Phillipe will get along fine with your macaw, and besides, he is far more intelligent than your average German Shepherd I hope this *places a large bag of gold coins on to the desk* will cover our costs... |

Thank you so much, I've assigned you to cabin #7. If the moaning and groaning from across the passageway keep you awake, feel free to help yourself to some free foam earplugs. They are located in the tan box beside the aft companionway

Meet Charlie Noble. We tried giving him piano lessons but alas he's tone deaf. He talks like a pirate tho and I'm sure you'll enjoy his sence of humor.

Hi Charlie, good to meet you! Hey there Jack, do any of your rooms have a KING size bed? How about a room with a port hole? I can't stand the closed in feeling. Will there be many trips or only one? I am not to fond of a trip on Noah's Ark, therefore I would like to book a trip without all the vermits on board. (2 legged vermits are ok) |

All the cabins have portholes, and a sink with hot and cold water. Cabins 1,2,3,4 and 12 have upper and lower singles. 5,6,7,8,9,11 and 12 have double beds. All cabins also have standing head room. I am somewhat claustrophobic myself but find all of them quite livable. I'll put you in #8 as its a bit more open than the others and you'll be right next to the captain's cabin so he can keep an eye on you. Don't wory about the critters, they will have their own sunning area :-) |
