Actaully, I am a technologist (basicslly an engineers bitch, but ), with an extra year in fluid dynamics to specialize. One thing to remember, career wise anyway...is become a specialist. To do what you do and no-one else does. Jack of all trades are a dime a dozen. If I offend anyone by saying so, I am sorry but its true. Fliud dynamics is really cool. You can achieve amazing things with such little and you can control it any way you want. Automation is awsome because of the versatility. What you should do is, take an extra year and get your masters. Whatever you choose, just get it. Powertansfer, Fluid Dynamics, Mining, Bionics, Areospace, Automation, Material Handling...whatever. Today is an age of specialist, just make sure you are one and you'll always have a job and bring the bucks home. I didn't get the chance, so I did as much as I could, but I would if I could. |

Sounds like a good plan, but the real developments are in the tiny sensors/monitors that they flush through your body, also there is supposed to be tiny "robots" that can go inside you body and help repair tissue, nerves and such. |

So, jumping back to the stupid professor schtick from before. My professor has us watch this movie about democracy. All anti-globalization and anti-corporation and anti-corporate media and all that stuff. Tons of portestors out in Seattle protesting the WTO. anyway, watching this movie, I realize I am watching these hypocrites bash the corporate media, by doing the exact same type of propagandizing and truth hiding that the corproate media does. Like they talk about OC gas, and how it got used on protestors in Seattle. Then they come out with this statistic. "More than 100 fatalaties have been linked to the use of OC gas." I'm sitting there thinking, This is bull! Congrats, 100 fatalaties, out of the hundreds of thousands, maybe even million plus protestors this stuff been used on. So there is between a .01 and a .1 percent chance to be killed by the stuff. These people have a higher chance of dying in a fatal accident on the drive home from the protest than they do at the protest itself. The cops are actually doing them a favor by not using a more lethal gas! And instead, they propagandize and lie right to my face about the danger these people were in. Frankly, it makes me sick Phew... well, it is the Ventilator... |

Do you think its fair that 100 people died for protesting? I personally have never protested, nor care to...but I do think that they have got some benefits to society. Its always a two-way street, for example, the protestor says "your" setting us up for an indstrial catstraphe, yet at the same time the cost to tax payers for protests is very high. Look at Joe lock myself to a tree, he just soaked the tax payers for thousands of dollars because of the administrative costs to the government. However, he may have prevented the hacking down of a local 500 year old tree, the your grand children may picnic under. I say that its always a two-way street, but sometimes its a two-edged sword. Always keep in mind that both parties have to act like extremist to get there point across, so look for the middle ground and thats where the truth is buried. |

No, I don't think it's fair I also don't think it's fair to try to trick people with a statistic that a little rational thought shows is completely out of proportion |

I see your point, it incites a lack of credibility. Most can see through it, which is probably why protestors are viewed as extremists. |

yeah and mostly the police don't gas protestors anymore unless they themselves (the police) are in danger, and at that point the protestors shold be happy they only get gassed and not shot with rubber bullets or something bad. |

Yep, its quite different than typical engineering, even the lifestyle you have. Compare an office job with developers and draftmen, to that of a lab life with white coverals. The technology is insane though. |

I am extremely passive aggressive. Maybe not here, but in RL I am. I want to say fuck off, but I don't. I say something inoffensive, that makes me out to be a wuss. |
