I have a question.....have you ever considered suicide? I do not mean actually planning and attempting to carry out the deed....just had thoughts of doing it and how you would do it? Is it normal to think about that, just in a passing sort of way? |

We did that for the whole Maths lesson today, I reckon it's normal enough. Although, we were doing trig, maybe that had something to do with it... |

Seriously...I always think about it...but never in a realized format. If I were to, I would go out with a bang...44 magnum. I think its normal, not because the world is falling apart blah, blah, blah. But because, death is in our nature. We've always had it and we always will. Perhaps suicide is a manifistation of our eventual self destruct. :::EDIT (added last paragraph)::: |

Ok, well I'll be here to help if need be... there's always lots on my mind...I have a theory on global warming. *walks into TOOLS room* For just less than a century, we have been drilling and pumping oil from the earth. If it was ever cummultated, how much would this weigh? I have no Idea...but it has to be alot. Since, we are basically emptying our spherical jar, it must be comming lighter and therefore could be ever so slightly acting differently to the gravitational pull of the sun. Could the earth actually be moving towards the sun ever so slightly, but enough to cause a 1.5 degree increase in the global enviroment? What do you think? |

I think it's cunning. But wouldn't it take an unthinkably long time to alter the earth's Gravitational Field, and have to move a long way to increase global temperature? Talkingof global warming, just my luck, Britain's getting colder... |

OK - here's my 2 cents, late but not worthless I hope. I also think it's normal to consider death, and deal with feelings about it. Don't Fear the Reaper and all that. But...we should fear the reaper just a bit. You know, play off that fear, so that moments in our life are put into perspective. It's fascinating to think of the possibilities, but in the end, no one, and I mean NO ONE knows until you get there yourself. All the way, not coming back. It's intelligent to contemplate death and even how you would take your life, but it's stupid to go ahead and do it, unless you are close to it anyway. (euthanasia) (btw - I'd gas myself while listening to Stevie Wonder's "As.") |

Without question...but considering the icredible amouts of engery output by the sun, it may not take much. |

another fun thought (having a lot of them today), surely the reproduction of various rock types and oil/gas/etc, however veryveryvery slow it is, would make up a little of the weight again? Also, in global terms, a couple of degrees is a huge step up to take (for instance, when Mount Merapi blew up, it lowered global temp. by a couple of degrees, which made lots of people panick and run around in circles (as one does when panicking) although it corrected itself after a while) so i imagine the earth would have to move a significant distance to change anything. However, as we have been doing it for a considerable time... um, that is the extent of my knowledge. I catch up on sleep in geography. |

*barges in through doorway, flames shooting out of eyes, screaming something about not ruining his goddam prom and ranting about various silenced handguns* Ok here goes: I got a simple need here. can you kill the DJ for our prom if he plays rap music. I just found out that, no prom won't be slow music/dancing it'll be rap and freak dancing. It's F-ing prom and i don't do that stuff. and with the girl i'm taking, we can't just go make-out or get really really drunk to the point where we don’t care about music. I took her to homecoming a few yrs back and it sucked, it was all rap music so we didn’t dance at all!!!! And if it happens again, this time where everything is significantly more expensive, I swear I will be standing over the DJ’s oozing dead body after stabbing him to death with a butter knife or a broken glass. And leaving prom in handcuffs is not how I want to end the year. Prom is the 21st. I got 7 days, talk to me here. |

conservation of mass, the earth would only get lighter or heavier if we jettisoned junk into space or pulled stuff out of it. the fumes and crap from burning has the same mass as the oil. |

ug, rap bad (unless it's fun ancient stuff) Not proven myself good on the advice front, but what I would do is just throw my own alternative "prom" type bash; basically, hire out a hall and a decent DJ (or better still, find a friend who owns a hall and a DJ) and invite everybody you've ever met... Thus the real prom will be dead. I'm planning on doing this next year, although in a huge park with candles and bubbles and stuff. |

ok prom is in 7 days and i've already got tickes a limo and plans, bailing isn’t an option, and I pulled my best female friend into it, and she (and about the rest of the sophmore class) have put a considerable amount of effort into it. She might get over it and talk to me in 5 months but her psycho friend will slaughter me (happened once before) it was ugly. |

I warned you my advice sucked.:glare: OK, if he starts playing lots of rubbish rap, get everybody to start heckling him 'till he changes it. He should be playing according to the taste of the masses not himself. Oh! otherwise, jump him from behind, put him in a large burlap sack, dump him in a cornfield then find someone good to DJ! |

Hey MF, Sorry I missed ya. Was on vacation.... yes you have every right to shoot the DJ, a good DJ would play a variety of dance, rap, country, modern rock and top 40. *pulls out glock* Oh yes, the conservation thing...your right because the weight stays the same but the mass changes. Essencially we are undensifying or changing the matter classification of fossil fuels from solids or liquids to a vapour which collects in our vast atmosphere. Eventually, any solids will return to the earth. Any of the burnt energy will also return to the earth from the heat produced. Again a conservation law. Physics 11 all over again. |
