errrrch. hop on!

To all Leaf and Avs fans. I would like to offer my condolences.

However, I watched both games and was very disappointed with the level of desperation each team displayed.

Yep, the Avs looked pathetic once again. They knew it. I told you SJ would wear them down with that damn pace setting. Grrrrr....

So, condolences...does that include a drink?

I used my Third Eye.

How else could I have so clearly predicted Calgary in 6. But its not that great, even I didn't think Anahiem would have swept Det last year.

What? They already do. Bonds- is he the best athlete in the world? Everybody's pee samples now in federal witness protection program, A-Rod dream or dud?, Evil Empire don't hate us because we're beautiful, Maddux - sucking in the Windy City...

(ok - going to try to shift gears and watch a game or two)

Bonds is the best to ever play the game. Sorry, Ruth, Cobb, etc. Tris Speaker may have come close as an overall player, but Bonds is the man.

Roger Clemens is an animal.....can you say 7th Cy Young award at 42????

A-Rod is cool, but I like Jeter better......who else would have given up his position where he has been an all-star to be upstaged by the "best player in the game"

Maddux is over the hill, but he will still win 15 games...Cubbies still don't make the playoffs cause Dusty Baker has ruined Mark Prior's arm by making him throw 140 pitches a game all last year.

Yankees Suck!

*Emperor Jason enters to hear these words.*
I could not have said it better myself, Christie. ^_^
I'm an Orioles fan, and the O's have always said they were NY's rivals.....but we were never good enough.

In fact, there's only one thing I disagree with....Bonds cannot compare with Ruth.
[rant]Here's why:
1. Bonds uses steroids, prove me wrong.
2. Ruth played in the dead ball era. Show him a modern ball and he'd be hitting 100 homers a year.
3. Bonds uses cheap-ass body armor so he can stand on the inside half of the plate. Now everything's in the reach of his cheap-ass short bat and he can pull it into PNC Park's cheap-ass porch in right.[/rant]

Steroids or not, no one has ever had the bat speed or hand-eye coordination of Bonds. Ruth did not hit against the caliber of pitching that exists today....you get a fresh arm every few innings now, whereas back in the day, the old timers pitched 9, 10, 12 innings...hell some of them even pitched both games of double headers. If Bonds had that advantage, he would bat .500 and hit 100 home runs.

Steroids may add strength and distance, but they dont add bat speed or help you make solid contact.

Mind you, I do not like bonds, but he is the best we will ever see.....

Until Khalil Greene gets used to big league pitching, anyway  .

LOL, the day I play short is the day the world ends. I play the corners and pitcher.
Thx tho! :D

Is Lee Mazilli an idiot? Why is Rodrigo Lopez (0.36 ERA, 2-1) still working out of the bullpen? :o

I too cant stands the Yankees. This year, they are either going to murder everyone in the league or implode because of the mass of all their star power.

Well, I guess this would be considered an implosion for them..... :glare:

I think the fact that the final standings in the AL East have been the same since 1997 says it all.

Actually I predicted SJ/TB Final. But I will follow my heart and stick with the heat.

1. Iggy
2. Fresh Success (argument goes both ways I suppose)
3. Kiprisoff held back the best sniper team in the league with 2 shut-outs
4. Dump and Chase - use high speed to win the race to the puck, will work on SJ
5. Calgary has more depth
6. Calgaries D are better at joining the offense.

Geez, when you put it that way, they do sound pretty good...on paper. Let's see if they learn a thing or two from the mistakes of the Avs.

Its so ironic, the performance of SJ this year has reflect the behavor of a shark. They silently find a way to win. A few games after the All Star break I am reviewing the stats and hello what this, SJ right behind Detroit, Wow. They're team is very mysterious yet extremely dangerous. They do have some performers:

Marleau
Nabakov
Cheechoo
Stuart
Damphousse
Ricci

And they are just as driven as the flames. This is the first time they have made it to the conference finals. Logistically, I see SJ. But, Lets Go Flames!

Bonds is a great player. You left 2 out of that list Christie if I may be so bold as to suggest

Ted Williams
Joe Di Maggio
and maybe the greatest over all hitter of all time
Pete Rose.

So you think my Red Sox will break the curse? I wouldn't know how to act. I'm used to the blowing it in the final game having a big lead and managing to loose it anyway.

Ted Williams was the greatist "pure hitter" to step on the field, but not overall player. Joe D was very graceful and could do a lot, but not in the league of Ruth, Cobb , Speaker, Mays, etc....

Pete Rose was a great contact hitter, but his crowning grace was his dedication and enthusiasm. 1000 or more of his hits were balls that would have been ground outs with anyone else running the bases.....His desire was number one, but he was not even close to being the best "hitter" ever. (He may have been the best "team player" of all time, and I do think he was the best leadoff man-he would do anything, ANYTHING-to get on base and score)

Another that should be on the list is Henry Aaron...look at not only home runs, but hits, average, etc,,,,and the fact that he did it while enduring racial discrimination, hatred, death threats, etc.....he was so consistent his whole career with all of that hanging over him...amazing.........

How bout Roger Clemens.....6-0, #2 all time in K's......still going strong at 42. If I can get him to leave his wife, I am gonna marry him. ...........I wanna play with the ROCKET!!!
