First, j d, that blue is too light. It needs to be nearly black. Second, you could use a little darker orange as well. Finally, what are you talking about? the Broncos? Root for the future 7-9 winner of the NFC North ![]()
That is, after the Pale Hose take it all in baseball!

Caught in a dilema here. The World Series is upon us and I'm having a hard time deciding who to root for. The White Sox are an AL Central enemy. But damn, they've played good baseball. Roger Clemens is a psychopath with too many WS appearances already. But this is the first one for Houston. Help me out here, folks. |

Here's your help: What wins in the World Series? Solid pitching, solid pitching and clutch hitting. Which of the two teams has more of these? The White Sox. |

Well now that they're down 2-0, you have to root for Houston. Besides, they have the wierdest field in baseball. Any team with a hill in CF deserves my WS rooting. Also, I went to a Sox game back when they sucked, and what fans there were were completely out of the game. Makes me a little suspicious of the "longtime" fans coming out of the woodwork.

Well, shoot, Herc, longtime fans always come out to watch during a championship series :glare: First, a hill in centerfield? What genius thought of that. "Hey, I know, let's be original and put a hill onto our ball field. Boy, that will sure be a hoot to watch balls roll." Second, who says you have to root for the underdog? If that was the case, nobody in their right mind would ever root for the Yankees. Finally, I've been to Sox games when they have been great and when they have sucked. In every case, I've found knowledgeable fans and complete morons. Not reallya deciding factor on who to root for. |

Actually a hill in the outfield is not unprecedented. Fenway used to have a 10 foot embankment called Duffy's Cliff in left field, right in front of what became the Green Monster. The old Polo Grounds in New York had the opposite problem. The ground sloped away from the infield so much that a person standing in the dugout could barely see the top of the center fielder. Stuff like that makes ballparks interesting.
You're right, CR, who in their right mind would ever root for the Yanquis? I'm still undecided, but I'll say this: It's been pretty exciting so far. My only observation is that the umpiring controversies throughout the playoffs have all benefitted the Sox. Game changers? Maybe. Maybe not. Let's see what happens now in Houston. I heard that MLB is demanding that the Astros keep the roof open while they want it closed. If you ask me I think Houston has the right to decide what to do with its own park. |

Interesting or Irritating? It sounds like Minutemaid Park is simply trying to copy waht went on before. Not that Comiskey Park is any better. The last of the Cookie Cutter Pallparks with an upper deck so steep you feel like you are going to fall to your screaming death when the game ends. The issue of the retractable roof falls back to MLB regs in the World Series. Whereas the home team in the regular season can call most of the shots, once the postseason begins, MLB makes the calls on game starting time and other conditions. As I'm from Chicago, I remember how the sites ofor the games on the 1984 NLCS were fli-flopped so that San Diego would host the three weekened games (Chicago's Wrigley Field had no lights) and how that winter MLB told the Chicago Cubs that, if they should ever enter the play-offs again, games would be played in a Wrigley Field with lights or the nearest National League city. I think with last night's game, though, it's time to bring out the brooms. |

They sure know how to keep it exciting. I'm gonna root for the Astros tonight if only to prolong the series. I'm not quite ready to wave bye-bye to baseball until next spring. As far as ballparks go, I like the quirks, interesting or irritating. It's a uniqueness to the sport that you really don't get with others, except maybe some minor variations - dome/no dome, grass/turf, ice rink size. Another interesting tidbit about The Polo Grounds - the whole park was shaped like a giant "U" and deep center field was practically in a different time zone. It varied over the years but generally was around 490-500 feet. Wow! |

All done except for the post mortem. Would have been nice if The Sox could have wrapped it up on their home turf. Nothing like the roar of the hometown after that final out. |

Yeah, the US one. Covers a bit more than just the NHL. A few non-Canadians used to play the game. I misspoke. Eveleth, Minnesota. Right outside of Virginia. Not far away from Hibbing, birthplace of Robet Zimmerman. We're still talking that sport where people where smack that rubber thingy around, right? |
