Welcome to The Matt-Duck Hall of Fame

Please bring your proposals for induction into the hall of fame,Give us a brief description of who you would like inducted and why, and their claim to fame.

If i can i would like to make a committee of three others plus myself, so anyone fancies that please PM me

As curator of the Matt-duck Hall of Fame i think the first person to be inducted is the great man himself. I do not believe anyone will dispute this.

Hall of Famers

If approval is granted for the Hall of Fame, I Would gladly nominate the following:- Led Zepplin, Queen, Rainbow, Status Quo, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, just for starters.

There are two in that list i think should be inducted, because of their contribution too music, not saying who, but id like to hear what others think.

Also i'd like to concratulate Old Rocker the second member of the Hall of fame committee.

From the above list I would nominate Led Zeppelin and Queen, because that are the only ones I know the music of.

Do you want all kinds of people in your hall of fame, if we think they should be famous?

In that case I would nominate

- Richard Feynman, scientist (physics), who should be in there for his contribution to physics in general and quantum mechanics in particular, and for passing that knowledge on in a clear manner.

- H.G. Wells and Jules Verne, authors, grandfathers and "founders" of the modern science fiction

Why did I originally think this Hall of Fame was for members of the South Pacific, and not musicians, scientists, humanitarians, etc?

Strange i thought everybody had heros to put in the the hall of fame. once they are voted in, i will find as much about them as i can, it will be worth reading.
But you have to tell me who you want first.

I just thought it would be a good idea.

The Queen were Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon.
Few bands embodied the pure access of the 70s like Queen.Embracing the exaggerated pomp of prog-rock and heavy metal as well as vaudevellian music hall. The british quartet delved deeply into the camp and bombast, creating a hugh,mock-operatic sound with layered guitars and overdubed vocals.
The origins of Queen lay in the hard rock pyschedelic group Smile, which Brian May and Drummer Roger Taylor joined in 1967. Following in the departure of lead singer Tim Staffell in 1971. May and Taylor formed a group with Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Wreakage. Within a few months bassist John Deacon joined them, and they started rehearsing.over the next two years , as all four completed college, they simply rehearsed playing just a handful of gigs.By 1973 they concentrate on their careers. their first album Queen was a straight metal album and had little accliam, but Queen 2 was an unexpected success. Queens third album Sheer Heart Attack was released in 1974. The music-hall-meets-Zeppelin Killer Queen climb to number two in the charts, taking the album to number two as well.
Sheer Heart Attack also made in roads in america as well, setting the stage for the break through of 1975s a night at the opera, according to many the most expensive rock record ever made. the first single Bohemian Rhapsody took three weeks to record and there was so many overdubed vocals that it was imposible to see though the tape at certain times.
Queen shot one of the first conceptual videos to suport Bohemian Rhapsody and the gamble paid off, as the single stayed at number one for nine weeks breaking the previous recorded tune,it also became Queens signiture theme song. the song and the album was equally successful in America as the album climbed into the top ten and went platinum.
from then on the legend was born.

THE MATT- DUCK/Andrew,

This was a man who was born in Ireland on August 4, 1967. He became the leader of his NationStates Nation in the latter part of July, as things were winding down with XYZ_Affair.

He started talking to Desert Rose, but RL intrupeted and he started talking to LR, he was the first Secertary of Defense, he implemented the DSP, and he made great strives to make sure that the South Pacific Region, never once again fell into tyranny.

He, in Dec. stepped up to take the Delegacy, being the second in the Region, so that we could keep the SP safe, in case something happened to LR. It did and he, the true Gentleman, that he was, stepped up.

He was a fair and just Delegate, he worked closely with all the Government, as we all did, and kept things even. When RL took over and he got to busy, LR stepped back up to the Delegacy. He only banned two Nations from the SP in his time.

Then the heartbreak of watching his Nation get deleted for inactivity, everyone wondered, but we wanted him to be ok.

Then the heartbreak on Feb. 14, when the Region, and the game of Nationstates found out that he had been killed in a car crash in RL.

Now for a few words on the man in RL.

He was part of the reserves of Ireland. He was a strong person, a beautiful soul, and fun to be around. Even if only online.

He had the year before buried his son, Alexander, who passed away at age five to brain cancer, he was going through a divorce, and he owned his own taxi service.

Even with great saddness in his life, he was full of life, humor and love. It was this combination that we all got to see, and he was hard headed, as we got to see as well.

As much saddness as I feel in knowing that we will not speak on this plain again, and others will never truly get to know him. It brings me the greatest of joys to know that at one point in time his light shined in my life for a while.

I will finish this later.....
