TAO here. I see our "friend" has been "friendly" here as well. Oh bother!! Anyway ... I finally took the plunge and registered here. It will likely take me weeks to scan everything here ... you have several major posters ... but I will make myself less of a stranger. So, while I am "catching up", just sit back and enjoy the music. :band |

FREE TAO update ... The Acutely Obtuse is no more and will likely not be returned. I move forward with one of my TAO nations, TAO the Wanderer, until such time another TAO nation is large enough to replace it in TWP. I am very appreciative of anyone who said and/or believed nice things about me. The students who were penalized with me have decided to quit the game. So sad ... I hoped they would blossom in their writing abilities once they gained enough nerve to post in various fora. Anyone still wishing to support TAO in his quest to have The Acutely Obtuse returned may add the nifty shirt to their sig. <IMG]http://photos.yafro.com/pics3/i/20041127/11/6/4/8/648ab0c5c897797ddee58f4f0c143b680_full.jpg[/IMG> ciao, TAO |

Well good luck to TAO the Wanderer and a shame that it becomes hard to use this game as a teaching tool |

-----------------------Official Press Release Volume I Issue I----------------------------- As of late, our region has been very active. This press release shall compile major events of the past month in the region, since it is the first, after all. The region went through our first major election cycle without a hitch. This is hopefully a sign of the stability of the government structure we chose in our Second Constitutional Committee (ConComII). Dilber was elected as Prime Minister taking over from Minineenee who ably led the region for the first three months. Our Delegate, Berhampore, was re-elected, but we went through several Regents (also known here as Mr. Plan . It started with BIteland, then went to Guilder Channel, and is now with the esteemed player, Lake Lanier. The Council has fixed its practices through a law demanding openness in deliberations, as well as passing an amendment to strike inactive members from the Council forum members list. The Grand assembly approved it. Both chambers also approved the Judicial Code for our courts. The Court had a re-shuffling with both Schwartzchild stepping down and Ineedsleep retiring from their positions of Associate Justices. Halmont shall remain the chief justice. The Council's choice for Associate Justice was Kurdistan, and the Grand Assembly chose for their spot, Cave Canem. As for court cases, we did have landmark case involving the Councils right to control old forums over that of privacy of the participants and the right to vote a forum closed, and the Council won the right to regulate all old forums that were the property of the region. We have had serious trouble with a certain troller (Tweeds being just one of many names used), but have taken steps to stop the abuse. Ohh and BIteland is now thought of very highly for during the "glitch of 26," he was promoted to Delegate when Berhampore was axed by several dozen endorsements. He kept the system and respected the constitution, proving that the system works. Thus the democratic system established by our Second Constitutional Committee seems to be working. It is the mission of all those in the West Pacific Community to ensure that the freedom remains, in this region. Many thanks for reading the report, and hopefully, these will be distributed often. |

Dilber, Prime Minister of the West Pacific. Announcement: Re: The North Pacific. In light of events today, whereas the legally elected delegate of the North Pacific gave up her account to another person, whereas the new official was not elected as per the constitution of The North Pacific, whereas the new delegate has suspended the constitution, whereas the delegate has banned the nearest person in Endos, the government of The West Pacific no longer recognizes the current government in The North Pacific as legitimate, and as such cuts all ties to the current government. We are bound by the United Democratic Pacifics treaty to do this action because of the following section: Article 8 The United Democratic Pacifics shall recognize the democratically elected government of an allied region, as determined by that region's Constitution or Charter. As the current government is no longer democratically elected, we are forced to cut ties with this regime. As much as I must regret to do this, I believe this is a necessary item. I shall not disclose the identity of the person that has taken control of Pixiedance’s account; however, I will say that I am incredibly disappointed in him at this move. We as a region must support the people of The North Pacific, and hope that democracy reigns there again. Dilber |

I understand your point, Dilber but I must ask these two questions: Does this mean that the West Pacific will not honor the mutual defense clauses of the UDP charter, if called upon by the exisitng government, or that which will exist when martial law in the North Pacific is lifted? Whom does the West Pacific consider the legitimate government of the North Pacific? Thank you for your response. I hope we can keep all discussions civil. |

TWP is still a member of the UDP, and will honor the mutual defense pact upon the next government that we consider to be elected under their constitution. At the moment, there is no recognized government, and we are waiting to see what happens before deciding what to support. Dilber |
