http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index....tive_indecision We have a Psychotic Govt style and the question answers: A country should be judged by how it treats its worst-off citizens. Agree Corporations do more good for society than harm.disagree Marijuana should be legal. agree The world needs to rediscover its spirituality. strongly agree A lot of what's wrong with youth today could be fixed by a year's military service. strongly agree Capitalism is on the way out. strongly disagree Without democracy, a country has nothing. Strongly agree this changed from disagree to strongly agree in less than 24 hours from the last update. It is better to deter criminals than try to rehabilitate them Agree National animal - Badger Currency - Lampshade Motto - In Lampshadius we drinkum ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Text of 1st Issue The Issue In response to a slow news week, certain highbrow newspapers have stirred up the debate over voluntary vs compulsory voting. The Debate "Compulsory voting makes about as much as sense as having the death penalty for attempted suicide," says civil rights activist Clint Christmas. "You can't force people to be free! You can only give them the choice. Besides, if all those derelicts who can't be bothered to get off their ass once every few years voted, who would they elect? I shudder to think." [Accept] "It's not contradictory at all," argues political commentator Sue-Ann Shiomi. "The fact is, if not everyone votes, the outcome isn't truly representative. Some groups--like elderly gun nuts--vote more often than others. That's why always we always end up with such terrible politicians." [Accept] "This raises an interesting issue," says Konrad McAlpin, your brother. "And that is: why do we need elections, anyway? Seems to me it would be much simpler if you just decided what was right, and did it. Wouldn't that save everyone a lot of time?" [Accept] The Government Position The government has yet to formalize a position on this issue. If you wish, you may simply dismiss this issue. |

I think we did very well here! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Community of Collective Indecision "In Lampshadius We Drinkum!!!" UN Category: Inoffensive Centrist Democracy Civil Rights: Below Average Economy: Strong Political Freedoms: Excellent Location: the South Pacific The Community of Collective Indecision is a tiny, devout nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often. The large government juggles the competing demands of Religion & Spirituality, Law & Order, and Defence. The average income tax rate is 24%. A large private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Door-to-door Insurance Sales and Basket Weaving. Crime is moderate. Collective Indecision's national animal is the Badger and its currency is the Lampshade. You have one outstanding issue. [View Dossier] |
