OOC This seems like a bad advert for the Jennifer Government, i think england already is an outpost for the US....

Goes over to the k section, "have you got the new edition of Stephen Kings The Dark Tower".

OOC:ahhh a role reversal

Well this is one American who thinks that England is the best friend the US has.I am not just thinking in the near term I am looking over the last 100 years or so./OOC

Well I'm glad both of your countries have maintained their traditions. If you put all the politics aside we share many things in common and still there are even more differences. I find it amazing the way our 3 countries have developed in such different ways.

I don't know if we will. It seems that ethics is left out of most business school curricula.

Sorry for keeping you waiting. I've been busy upgrading the poetry sections. There are some special editions if you are interested. Take a look when you have a chance.

I also hired a painter to put some quotes on the wall. If anyone has some suggestions, please place them in the box by the door. CR, you may want to check out the one near the poetry section.

Quote:

Thus times do shift,—each thing his turn does hold;
New things succeed, as former things grow old.

Anyone else interested in the Dune display? How about Guy Gavriel Kay, a good (great) Canadian writer? Michael Ondaatje?

I gotta quote to go over the theatre section, if you happen to have one.

Man, I love book shops.

**spots Aurelis** Steve Jobs? Is he the guy from Pixar? **grins sheepishly** He sounds familiar but I'm not sure why.

**glances round**
hey BIRC1 do you have a copy of Scott Bergs Katherine Hepburn biography?

Happy Birthday Molk! Here is a copy of Kate Remembered for you. *hands over memoir and Jennifer Government*

I have also decided that everyone is entitled to a complimentary book of your choice on your birthday. If I have missed anyone since I opened the doors, please feel free to drop by and tell me.

Aurelis, I'm surprised that I still had a copy of the Jobs book as Loop reserved most of them for her/his electronics store. I'm glad that one got overlooked. Here's a copy of Jennifer Government to go with it. *places book on coffee table after clearing away empty cups to return to Fudge*

*heads off to give GE's quote suggestion to the painter*

Looks interesting...I love all the future imperfect / near future stuff. WIlliam Gibson is one of my favourites. I think I'll definately hang on to this one!

Yeah, Steve is the guy from Pixar; he bought it from George Lucas in the 80s and owns like 60-70 percent of the corporation (he took it public after Toy Story was released. BUT, he founded a famous corporation, the only computer company from the 70s to become a Fortune 500 company; Apple Computer, Inc. He's also rumored to be favored by Roy Disney (a friend of his) for the CEO job at Disney if they oust Eisner.

Hey BIRC, man is it damp outside today.

I need to pick up a copy of Nelson DeMille's "Up Country" I was in the middle of the book when it came up missing out of my locker at work. Nothing worse than not knowing the end of the story.

WOW, I see you are painting some quotes on the walls. Nice touch. :D

*stops at the box by the door and puts in a few quote suggestions...*

The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them.
Mark Twain

The most technologically efficient machine that man has ever invented is the book.
Northrup Frye

Here are a couple of suggestions for your quotes BRIC

It's the soldier not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech.

Hazel wanders in and bumps into htz. Nice quote, you know in my effort to attempt to understand the apparent and incessant need for warfare, the full poem by Father Denis O'Brien was a defining moment for me. not that I like war in any way but it frames the concept of freedom so very well.

Sure! Pop by and set yourself up. There is lots of extra book shelf space with slanted supports, tables if you prefer having the comics in boxes and whatever else you might need. I have also hired a painter to put quotes on the wall if you have some good ones. As part of your employee benefits package anything you order at Fudge's Coffee House can be put on my tab.

Welcome aboard! *shakes CR's hand*

Jerry walks in and looks about the section set aside for the comics section. "Not bad. Slanted racks for comics displays, tables to set up boxes for back issues. I'll set the works for serious collectors behind the counter there, and post some of the models in the glass case. Gotta make sure I set up the cards for Magic, Pokemon, Yu-ge-oh, and, well, all the toher CCGs back there as well."

He hangs up his jeans jacket, revealing his Chthulu 2004 T-shirt (slogan, "Why settle for the lesser of two evils?"). He begins setting up the collection.

Welcome to BIRC's Boundless Books Comics Sections

For your convenience, allow me to add several sites for comic publishers:

Marvel Comics -- Home of Spiderman, the X-Men, Punisher, etc.

Dark Horse Comics -- Home of Star Wars, Invincible Ed, Buffy, and Road to Perdition

Image Comics -- Home of Savage Dragon, Spawn, Witchblade, and Powers

DorkStorm Press -- Home of Dork Tower (among the finest in Gamer comics), Nodwick, SnapDragons, PS 238

Has anyone heard anything about the new Ghostbusters comic? I heard it's from 88MPH studios, but I haven't heard anything from it's release date beyond "Spring," and the employee's at my local comic shop don't know.

88 MPH has a list for a Ghostbuster Legion title for 14 February 2004. Looks like its a promo, but a good 4-parter

A slow afternoon, Jerry sits behind his counter, reading a copy of Mary Gentle's Grunts, laughing uproariously. "Man, those Orks could never handle a Huey." He likes to relax on Mondays, as Tuesday nights the new titles come in and Wednesday is a madhouse (New Comic Day)

Hey, man. We got some Powers over there and, well, I'm a big fan of Dork Tower. Also, I've heard that Kevin Smith is going to continue his work on the Spider Man/Black Cat team-up The Evil That Men Do. A good thing, as he left it hanging two years ago.

OOC: Fudgie, you may not really like that series. Paints most guys in a rotten light

Yeah, it closed with the bad guy raping the Black Cat. I'm not a big fan of that in comics, but Kevin Smith usually does so well. The characters are good, but that scene left a bad taste in my mouth.

Vasquez is cool, but does anyone remember Flint Henry from the old Image title Grimjack? His work on the Grinner was awesome. I wonder what Henry's doing now.
