This is someone at PRC wrote:

The sentai/PR debate is starting to heat up with die hard fans of each genre hammering it out with insults, flamings, and threats. PR fans like the way sentai has been re-made to suit their tastes while sentai fans are somewhat insulted at the fact that their favorite artform has been altered. Sentai fans are, IMO, self explanatory, for these are people who have move away from the norm and has ventured out to explore a different culture and a different world. But why does some people hate sentai? Why do they insist that the American re-creation is better?

Some people in this world, no matter what culture, race, creed, or color, can be easily intimidated by things unknown. The human brain can act in two ways to adapt to the unknown. One, it can try to understand it, explore futher, and learn. This reaction is called curiosity. It is a brain function that allows for the brain to absorb and process data. Sentai fans began when they saw a medium that they first did not undersatnd, but something in their brain began to take in interest. It then allowed them to explore further leading to an expanded view of the world. Curiosity, when used properly, will lead to brain function that marks an increase in enlightenment; understanding.

Two, the brain will sense something unknown and instead of adapting to the uknown, it begins to reject it. This reaction, in its mild state, is called indifference. The brain will not make the effort to analyse the unknown. Instead, it will fight against it and want to be away from the subject, a similar reaction as fear (though to a lesser extent). In turn, the person will want to stay in the boundaries of the familiar, making his world smaller. Anything new to him will be rejected, even destroyed. The worst case scenario is the next step in the brain function of indifference; bigotry.

In the history of mankind, indifference and bigotry has led to the downfall of civilizations, loss of knowledge, and reversal of society.

*People here have called me a sentai snob. Well, OK, that's understandable. For the record, I don't entirely hate PR (except for PRLR, many people can empathize with me on that). I want more PR episodes to be made and I wish good luck to Disney in bringing Abaranger here. I have praised PR before, especially Time Force. But the truth is, I love sentai more. I have always been fascinated with the Japanese culture (that's why I chases Japanese women in College).

For the anti-sentai people, I totally understand you. But if you are going to be against something, back up your reasons. Don't just say sentai sucks.

I don't personally think it's a matter of not being used to it. I just think that a series that is better suited for their culture is easier to relate to. One of things I enjoy most about the shows I watch is characters that I can relate to. It's easier to relate to someone who is an American and in America. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm being close minded about that. I don't have anything against Sentai. I just believe that PR is more relatable. First of all, there aren't just one race. It's actually more culturally diversed than Sentai, which is made for Japanese viewers.

Its ok to like PR more.

The real problem is, some PR fans hate it. Worse, they give no reason for why they hate it. They dont realize, if there wasnt any Sentai, where would PR be? Wheres does Di$ney get all there ideas from? They certainly dont make most of them up thereselves....

The only reason I can see people hating Sentai is due to the obnoxious people that perfer Sentai over PR. I'm not saying that people who perfer Sentai are obnoxious. I'm saying that there are people that perfer Sentai that are obnoxious and they act all ingorant about it.. with their talk about how much better they say it is. I guess that's actually affected my attitude towards Sentai in the past. I don't really have a problem with Sentai, but a lot of Sentai fans themselves are gay.

I know, but I think comments like: "Sentai sucks!" and "PR is better becuase Americans are the best at everything." are just as ignorant as MegaRed's comments.

Agreed. Sentai fans must come to terms with the fact that the majority of the population has no clue what sentai is and that to hold it against them when they have no real control over the situation is futile and does more harm to the tokusatsu community than good.

By the same token, PR fans shoudl realize that is every bit as legitimate as and Power Ranger series, even if you can't pronounce the names of the characters. If it wasn't for members of the sentai fan community (not saying that sentai fans are exclusively responsible, but we have had a strong input) pushing for better storylines, characters, and effects, we might not be anywhere near where we are today.
