What do you guys think? What is the role of the c-box in relation to the forums? I believe that cboxes should be used for informal chat and easy conversation. Forums, on the other hand, allow for more constructed topics with a chance for more indepth discussion and analysis. Ideas can be laid out for the entire board to see and think through, instead of on a c-box, where people are multi-tasking/having side-conversations/can't follow the entire discussion. I like forums better, personally, because I grew up through forum chatting. I got introduced to the C-box here on TAOW... |

C-box seems to really be for quick/immediate conversations, while posting is more permanent. Although, it's true that it's hard to follow entire conversations when a lot of people are online. |

Yeah, the CBox is more for just "hanging out" while the forums are better for serious discussion and other stuff. |

Sometimes I get this feeling that people disscus some issues on cbox instead of forums >_>' I mean serious topics, not those like 'how was your day' I agree with others. Forum is for serious conversation, topics etc, when you can think throughly about it. Cbox is mainly used for easy, quick talking. I don't know which one I like more. A tie |

I see of it more as something for quick discussions between members. But I often see debates on it too, usually about shippings. -_-' I prefer forums, since I spent most of my time on the internet around them. |

I tend to agree with Suzumebachi. It's much easier and quicker to post in the cbox rather than posting and then waiting for the other person to post. |

In general, any discussion which will have a permanent or at least lasting/significant impact on the forums should be posted on the forum, rather than "mentioned" on the CBox. The main reason, in my head, is that it is pretty likely that not every active-ish member will be online at the time an important topic is mentioned, and if it's mentioned on the CBox, it'll be difficult for any members who weren't online at the time to get the big picture. Anyways, people tend to be in-and-out and chatty and afk on the CBox. CBox is nice if members want to have small discussions about a topic, should it be silly or important. But anything that is essential or useful information for pretty much all members should be posted formally. |

The cbox is for flamewars, while the forums are for serious stuff. |

Well, I have to say that I do concede that that's sometimes true. |

cbox ftw. I haven't been around many forums, so I just play games on them. |

Yeah, I always tend to like the "games" boards the most. I don't know why, but still. |
