I hate posting topics when another has just showed up, but it's been a while since I've created a somewhat-serious topic. That might actually get replies. Feel free to post any thoughts, and your own opinions on your classes, of course. Anyway, I was thinking about my classes, and from what I'm experiencing, they are much better than the previous years. I'll go in order, and just give my thoughts on them. Advanced Placement English Language and Composition: Aka, my English class. This class. Is the most fun I've ever had in English. Freshman year was pathetically easy, Sophomore year was only acceptable due to friends, but this year, it's downright fun. We've done two class discussions, and they were the first I've ever been actively engaged in. So involved picking apart an essay sentence by sentence, and it fun! It helped me understand the essay much better, compared to when I did when in Virginia Beach. There's been little to no homework, and though my class is somewhat...quiet, my teacher makes it better. Sure, I may have no friends, but really, the teacher makes it all better. I'm very happy to be in enrolled in this course. No more reading books and completing worksheets every day. THIS is how English should be. Advanced Placement United States History: Aka, my History class. In this class, I have some friends, but that's just a little gift from luck. This class goes fast-paced, and covers plenty of topics within a broader horizon. Like any advanced History class should. But again, it's the teacher. This History class feels like my Freshman year History class - fun, and somewhat easy. Though the work-load is a bit more than I'm used to, I'll definitely suck it up for this course. History has always been my favorite class, and I think this year will be just as good. Government and Law: Ok, I enjoy my fair share of law. But this class. Is. Boring. I've been doing other work for my classes (and stuff for this forum) in this class, and I still understand everything. I'm grateful that this only a half-year course, and at least I have Raine. But still. This class can be more boring than Math. Speaking of Math... Integrated Math III: Aka, my Math class. I'm not as bright in terms of math compared to most of my friends. So, I'm stuck here. There's not much to say about this class, I never enjoyed math, and this isn't an exception. To be honest, I dread this period of the day. I can only be grateful that Lunch is right after. Biology Honors: So, this is the class I decided to take, because I thought I couldn't handle three AP courses. And I was right, too. This class gives plenty of work. It's even on par with my History class. Ask Suzu, she knows the work-load just as well as I do. Though, I don't have much of an opinion on this class; it's only started. However, once Biochemistry is said and done, I think I'll be enjoying Biology a lot, compared to Physics and Chemistry. By the way, never take Chemistry, if you have the choice. Trust me. And finally, String Ensemble Honors: Aka, my Orchestra class. Ok, so I wanted to be in the level Suzu is in, which is Symphony Strings. I really wanted to be with all my friends in an Orchestra class for once, but sadly, I can't get that chance. I suppose it's fine, this class is...eh. I suppose I can't hate it. I truly do have a desire to drop my instrument, despite my 11 years of playing. I'm pretty split on the subject, but, we'll see how things go. And those are my classes. I like them, except the ones stated, of course. Feel free to reply. :P |

... Phantom your semester/term/whatever seems boring to me. Is that what grade 11 is like? D: For mine, I'll just put the courses I have this semester. Maybe put impressions for the next. FRENCH: So much better than last year, and I've only taken 3 days of this course. Last year in French, we had this freaking teacher who would always act like an [lolcensored] to everyone in the class, and then maybe act nice, and then neutral, then nice, then [lolcensored]. For example, once this happened in class: She goes up to the board, writes some pages down and says, "OK, this is extra work in case you need a little review for what we did. You don't have to do it, but I think it would be a good idea." I didn't do the work. The next day, she goes and says, "I am very disappointed only maybe six people did their homework." And then she points to the "extra work" she assigned. So I speak up, and say, "You only assigned us that as extra work, you never said it was homework." Then she glares at me and goes, "Well, maybe I didn't say 'homework' but I expect you to do it." So I just gave her the finger under the table. Anyway, French is pretty good so far. The units we'll be doing look better, and it seems to be more interesting than last year. SCIENCE: Meh. I have the same teacher that I did last year. I don't really like him, because he has this really monotone voice, and I have trouble focusing in class already. So listening to him drone on gets boring, and I start daydreaming, or end up with very messy notes. Still, he does teach pretty well, and he also has some very cool stories to tell. ENGLISH: Can't say too much about this subject, except that I hope we'll be doing a lot of reading. We were supposed to read a chapter of To Kill A Mockingbird tonight, and I accidentally finished the whole book. I really hope this novel won't drag on too long and that we'll move on to something else. DRAMA RELIGION: Religion except you act. I had experience with drama last year with the same teacher and it was really fun. But this year there's a different class, and there's a guy I really don't like in it. I don't like the guy because he tends to talk. A LOT. So a quarter of class is wasted to get him and his friends to shut up. Meh. All courses are Academic, if that means anything. Here we have three levels of courses, going from the highest level to the lowest: Academic, Applied, and Essential. IDK how they match up, but I do know that next year Academic and Applied will turn into University and College, respectively. Blahdkdf Isaac Icon |

..Just realized I forgot to put my health class, lol. I also have Sociology, but, that's S2. After Government and Law is done. Junior and Senior year give you more choices. To compare, my schedule last year was: English 200H Writer's Workshop H / Study Hall Chemistry P.E/ Health 10 / Study Hall World History II H Lunch French IV Integrated Math II String Ensemble H Anyway, there's quite a bit of a difference. I have more Study Halls, I dropped French because I didn't need it any more, and I'm taking advanced classes I like. The main difference between Junior and Sophomore year is the choices you get to make concerning your classes. This way, school doesn't need to be as much of a chore. I chose most of those classes, so, I like 'em. But that's just the kind of student. I know a friend of mine took AP Calc and Bio, the opposite of me, pretty much. It really depends on what kind of student you are to pick your schedule. XD |

Aww, MM... MY TURN: half this stuff is incomprehensible except to Phantom French V H: We have nearly 30 kids in our class, including an Italian exchange student and Victor (Phantom should understand why he's included). I don't like the amount of papers we get in the class, but I really want to be able to speak French... :< or at least something other than English....:/ I've always been jealous of my bilingual friends (which I am surrounded by, thanks to my asian-ness...*shot*) Personal Wellness: Screw the class. Stupidest thing ever. Advanced Placement Biology: Is ok. I like the class so far I guess, but I'm not sure if I like my teacher. She's alright, sorta talks like Gardner (Phantom will understand) but at least the content isn't trying to kill me with stupidity. I really like the subject so far. BTW I loved Chem, looking back on it. It was a great experience, and Crisanti was an amazing teacher. Advanced Placement English Language and Composition: I call it APEng. It's the best English class I've ever taken, and I actually can say that I look forward to it :D I mean, it's to the extent that I was drawing during Bio and I actually put away my sketchbook to listen. That's really impressive. Like, seriously. I hope this holds true for the rest of the year <3 Advanced Studio Honors: A no-sh__ art class, and I like it (for a change). We're using charcoal, doing really technical stuffs (still life line drawings, values, etc.). It's cool. Well I already have used charcoal, so yeah. Minor's cool. AP Lunch: Fun. Phantom and Marie/November are in this class ;D or at least except on Mondays and Fridays....Then I hang out with some various Seniors and some robot people (ahaha, I should stop calling them that...people on my Robotics team) and do homework I slacked off on. Symphony Strings Honors: My orchestra class. It's a lot better now that a good handful of idiots graduated. But still, there are some... ah well. I like the pieces we're playing (Corelli Concerto Grosso, Mahler Adagietto, Dvorak Serenade, etc etc) and have cool people around me (I feel bad for November, she got a bad lot (Trent, Anna as her standpartner, but at least she's near Amrita) since I got Lorrin and Patrick, and Edward as a standpartner) Advanced Placement Calculus AB: Not to be confused with AP Calc BC (covers 2 semesters of college level Calc, while AB covers 1). Rambhia is a good teacher, so far, and I actually can pretend that I can understand higher level math. It just sucks that it's at the end of the day.... oh yeah, and he's the 3rd ex-military math teacher I've had....also an electrical engineer >_> and tells us stories of failing Calc in college...haha Advanced Placement United States History: "A-Push" - I have it 9th period D: Gawle is a good teacher, I think, and I really haven't been doing a good job keeping up with the work, but it's alright, since he doesn't really check *shot* Ok fine, I'll go write that thesis...I don't find it very fast-paced at all, unlike Phantom.... :/ maybe not yet...haha |

Hey, Suz? How is the work-load for AP Bio? Is there a lot of Math involved? I sort of regret taking Biology Honors, some times. Sure, Mr. F is awesome, but all my friends are placed in AP Bio, except for a few. Well, at least this class accomplished what I wanted it to: get me away from idiots who have no attention span. I suppose it worked. My Biology class is fairly quiet. As are the rest of my classes, lol. Well, except Orchestra. But Orchestra will be Orchestra. I personally find APUSH to be fast-paced if you find yourself unable to concentrate fully. That's kind of hard second period, but the times I can focus and listen to Gawle, everything is fine. I think it's only in Bio where the note-taking is too fast... That better change, lol... |

How do forums work again?

You guys wanna hear about work? Okay. So, I'm technically not a full timer, so I only work part time. But even when I was working full time, the max amount of hours they gave me was 25. Lol, ikr? Anyway, uhh, it's pretty monotonous. I work in retail, so I get a lot of bitchy women who come in and complain a lot. A lot. It makes me want to hurt myself, cuz they're so stupid. What else... Oh I actually get paid decently though. $11.75 an hour, which is pretty okay, considering the minimum wage is $10.25 But then again, my last paychecks were something like $90 and $100. Which I all used to pay my phone, and pay my mom rent. And now I'm starting to get poorer. Which means I need a new job. But the people I work with are great (with the exception of my manager - I hate her), so it makes me not want to leave, haha. Decisions, decisions... Regardless I need a new job anyway, so this place will probably go bye bye soon. And that's it. Yay. |

Well, there's always stuff like Facebook to keep in touch with old friends. I may actually get an account when I graduate high school, to try and keep in touch with people. I doubt a lot of my friends will stay in CT. Anyway, I'd go with the newer job, lol. I know the feeling of leaving friends, it's sad. But...it sounds like you need the money. Just do what you can for now, and don't stress too much about stuff. |

Haha I know. It's just hard to find a new job nowadays. I've already tried quite a few places and nothing lol I'll try again anyway, but for now I'll probably fix a few more things in my resume and just go from there. |

We're so incredibly behind, it's not funny. Like, last year we would've started planning for New Member kickoff and Pasta Dinner already, and we're not even done with committee head apps >.< |
