Alright, for the past 3 weeks, I'm in a strong star wars mood. This mood is slowly transforming in a space-matters-and-space-knowledge mood. I have a strong urge to talk about space. So, naturally, I thought about you guys. :)

Got any space related question that bugs you ?
Any space-related rumor you heard and want to check if it's true or not ?
You feel like talking for a space-related subject ?

If you have anything of the above and you search for answers...then search no more.

Welcome...

to...

Labouka's Space Campus Of Stellar Negotiations And Intergalactic Subjects.

All knowledge about space, stored in one place: wikipedia my marvelous mind. :P

Post any space related questions and I will get to answer them as best (and compehensible) as possible.

I really like talking about space so don't hesitate to ask anything that has to do with it (no matter how bizzare of a question it may seem to you).

And if it takes too long for me to answer one question, do not despair...I'm just researching the whole thing to give you the best answer possible (I'm not an all knowing being. I have limitassions too).

So post away your questions, my young padawans, and...

May The Force Be With You.

EDIT: Forgot to post a special image to make this topic look like a space center a good place to talk about space.

Posted Image

Enjoy !!! ;)

Haha, nice. :P

Do you know what is inside the plaent Neptune? Apparently there is a core that is heating up the planet. I'm curious if there is any life there.

Well, truth be told, the life part is a highly controversial rumor. Normally, and according to many laws of chemistry, C (Carbon) and H2O (Water) are the primordial elements that create life. Neptune has immense amounts of iced water and there are also other elements in the planet's atmosphere.
It seems, however, that if C exists in Neptune it cannot react with H2O because of it's frozen form. The planet's core would produce heat to mealt said ice, however, another fact is that Neptune does not have volcanoes on it's surface to release the core's magma. Take in consideration, though, that even if life forms were created they could not survive because Neptune lacks 2 major facts that preserve life:

1.The planet is not protected by something, like our O3 (Ozone), that blocks cosmic radiations of any kind (solar, nuclear, etc.).

2.Neptune is very far away from the Sun's heat, which is necessary to nutrish and preserve life.
The Sun's light and heat that reaches Neptune is only a handfull 40% from the total energies radiated from the Sun. I have yet to hear about lifeforms that survive with those amounts of light. (take heed that said energies reach the planet after, approximately, 7 months or so [not so sure about the exact number]).

An interesting fact about Neptune is that it's core is one of the hottest and strongest in our Solar System. Because of this, Neptune has the fastest planetary winds generated in our Solar System. This is an extraordinary feat considering the fact that all atmosphere-less planets need a powerfull EXTERNAL source to generate those winds (by that aspect you can guess what amounts of energy reside in the core. Tremendous ones !!!).

Thanks for the interesting facts Labouka. I never knew this.

I have another question; Why does Uranus suck up light?

If, by Uranus, you mean the seventh planet of our Solar System, then I believe that you refer to a constant rumor spoken about Uranus: because of it's featureless appearence in visible light, having no storms detected on the planet's surface like it's 'brother' planets Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune, it is widely believed by many that the planet 'sucks up' light in a bigger scale than normal planetoids. Some even backup this theory with the fact that Uranus is the furthest planet of our Solar System and because of that, light is taking way too long to reach the planet, then reflect on the planet's surface and then return to the observer's eyes so that he can see the 'image' of the planet.

If, by Uranus, you mean our sky, the Ozone Layer, then things are a tiny tad bit different.
A false idea, that many have about the Ozone Layer is that it sucks light in order to protect the planet from the extreme heat generated by our Sun. Wrong! The Ozone Layer doesn't 'suck' the light. More accuretally, it can be said that it sucks up the radioactive energies and the solar winds, constantly radiated by our Sun that, if not for the Ozone Layer, would have burned the planet to a crisp...literaly.

If those two answers don't cover your question then I would like you to give me more specific informations if you want a specific answer. Other than the above answers I can't think of any other 'light-sucking' Uranus. :huh?:

How do forums work again?
Not even sure what I want to ask... Already read up on a few things that interest me about space. If something pops up, I'll ask lol

I have another question then!

Umm... This is more of a theory. Why don't NASA build spaceship "refuelling"(ie. Oxygen, engine power, repairs, etc.) stations on moons, or Mars to travel more into the Galaxy? I know it will take many years to do so, but is it possible?

As a matter of fact, yes, it is possible to some extend. Something like this would, indeed, take years to accomplish, however the problems don't lie to our technology. Rather, it's the human nature that hinders this progress. Humans are not used to the conditions in space, to that extent, that some may undertake even 4 years of proper and harsh training. Especially, the concept of space colonies is highly debatable because of the distances. Passengers will have to travel in hibernation so that their body can withstand the time passing. This is a very complicating subject, so to put it bluntly: NASA does not want astronauts to live Earth at 28 years old and reach Neptune at 92 years old...of age !

And besides, the "refuelling resources" idea is not NASA's first priority as of now. Now they are in a rush to establish said base on the Moon, and shortly after in Mars. Once this is taken care of then they will have to maintain those bases...But that's another story.

(If I didn't answer this question properly, then forgive me. I am in a confused state as of today because I learned that a girl, that I really like and have deep feelings for her, has a boyfriend and I am in a kinda crushing state. Don't worry, I will recover as quickly as possible to continue answering properly your questions. Remember to always honor and treasure your girlfriends and boyfriends, cause you never know when a flash will come to seperate you and your feelings.Keep love always in your lives, no matter the situation.)

Ooh, space...

Are NASA ever actually going to go to or send a probe to Europa or are they still lying?
(lol, I'm obsessed with that moon xD)

Most prominent solution for Europa's exploration is the probe solution. Official announcements state that full exploration of Jupiter's moons (called the "Europa Jupiter System Mission") will take place in 2020. The main reasons for taking so long to begin said mission are the following:

1. Geologists have stated that the entire planet's surface is composed from several iced minerals, in general, ice (and a very fragile ice one at that...). So if a mission is to take place, it must be taken in consideration that the probe will not sink upon reaching Europa. Extra carefull and organised movements must be done so that this mission won't fail from that aspect...

2. ...because the other aspect that must be considered is extraterrestrial life. Because of the planet's underground ocean, that is 85% possible to exist, Europa is a highly controversial subject because for the first time in astronomical investigations and the existance of human beings, Mankind is faced with the reality of true and non-fictional allien life. If this theory stands corrected then additional safety and life-saving measures must be undertaken to prevent mistakes that would cause unwanted effects in all of Mankind's aspects and way of life.

Do you believe "aliens" exist Labouka?

I only know one thing: C (carbon) and H2O (water) create life. Since this rule exists and is always bound to happen because it is a natural rule of our universe, life can exist everywhere in this dimension's universe based on the worldwide and formally applied rules of physics (even the ones we don't know yet). Now, if the conditions that preserve said created life exist or not, well, that is a very different thing to discuss. The main fact is that, because of the aforementined rule, life can literally exist everywhere in our world and universe as we know it. In a different universe and dimension things would drastically be different.

So to give a straight answer, yes I do believe that Life exists in our universe (the term "alien" is not a correct one. More accurately you should ask if I believe life exists in our universe other than our planet).

...

And besides I don't sincerely believe that the only planet in the whole existence of our universe that has life is ours. Give it a thought yourself.
