Texas Representative Council Per Article X: Texas Representative Council A Regional Council shall represent the interests of all Texans in discussions relating to internal, external and constitutional affairs of Texas. 1. The specific duties of the Council shall include: a. Mediating any internal disputes that may threaten Regional peace, security or prosperity. b. Adjudicating any internal complaints and assist in formulating responses and courses of action in international affairs. c. Conferring on matters regarding breaches of the Texas Constitution. d. Approving any Alliance approved by the Cabinet. If the vote of the full TRC is against the proposed alliance then the proposed alliance will be declined. 2. The Council shall consist of the Cabinet Members of Texas, in addition to eight other members appointed by the Governor on a triennial basis. 3. At the Governor's discretion, citizens of Texas (who were citizens at the time of the last Texas elections) may vote to confirm nominees to the Texas Representative Council. In such a vote all eight nominees will be listed on a single ballot; any nominee receiving 50% or less of the votes of the top vote-getter shall be considered rejected. In the case of a rejected nominee, the Governor shall exercise his authority under Article XVII: Expulsion of Cabinet Members to appoint a replacement unilaterally, without need for ratification. This vote shall take place no later than two weeks after the last Texas elections. 4. The Governor of Texas may remove any member of the Council for cause, including dereliction of their duties as Council members. 5. Additionally, any Council Member will be deemed to have forfeited their seat on the Council in any of the following cases: a. The Council Member is ejected from the Region of Texas in accordance with the provisions of Article XI of the Texas Constitution. b. The Council Member voluntarily moves out of the Region of Texas (for any reason other than military or diplomatic missions as approved by the Cabinet) and takes up residence in another region for a period of 5 consecutive days or a period of 10 days total out of any two-week period. Additional duties will include welcoming new nations to Texas and being an Official Texas Goodwill Ambassador*. Current Members The Itinerant Ranger Dude of A Mysterious Vagabond The Supreme Imperial Kingdoms of Crosby-Huffman-Barret The Galactic Muppets of Darth Kermit The Concordium of Independent Planets The Republic of Makem The Confederate States of Ole Dixieland The Republic of The South Plains of Texas The Star Trek Nation of Trecdom2 * These are nations that are encouraged to welcome new arrivals to Texas and represent Texas when out in the world. Additionally, they are responsible for keeping the NationStates board content fresh and current. Have Fun!

Ok, time for some clarification since this is different. Per #2: The Council shall consist of the Cabinet Members of Texas, in addition to eight other members appointed by the Governor on a triennial basis We will use this thread for suggestions by the Citizens of Texas as to who they think will best represent them in Texas Government. We are under no obligation to accept any suggestions, but will certainly give all suggestions weight when we make our final decision as to who will be in the confirmation Election. We think this can work. Let's give it a try.
