Elite Ice Hockey League With The Big Shwag, and JT The Big Shwag Goooooooday Texas!!! And welcome to the Elite Ice Hockey League Roundup for Texas!!! Me and JT here are with you untill 7pm to give you the highs and lows of this Week 11 roundup, here from The Pheonix Ice Center in New Hampshire City Park. JT And Boy do we have a good show for you tonight! We have the results from tonights games, aswell as coverage from this game here, where we will see Pablicosta Steel take on the team second in the league, The New Texas Allstars. Later in the show we'll be having a close up look at both teams before the game. The Big Shwag Thats right partner. Lets take a look at what else is coming up on the show: Well we got a look at tonights fixtures from across Texas, our commentators giving us a run down on what can be expected at every Ice Pad arround Texas. Then we've got to run over to Carrie McGrah in New Texas to speak with David Holland, ex Ice Bats Player to see what he thinks is going wrong at the team placed last in the league. JT After that were back here for a look at the game 2 weeks ago, the bottom of the league derby between El Past Ice Bats and new comers Supreme Warlord Ryans One Timers. Then its time for commentary on the Steel game here at Pheonix Ice Center before we speak to Joe Henry Goodfoot about tonights action. The Big Shwag And thats it, a big show to start us off again. But before any of that, its time for Elizah Jo Francis to give us a run down on tonights big game between The Steel and the Allstars. Elizah, you there? Elizah Jo Francis I sure am boys. The Big Shwag Then take it away darlin'! EJF Indeedy. Hello viewers, I'm downstairs in the tunnel where in about, 15 minutes the Pablicosta Steel will emerge to try and snatch second place in the league from the high scoring Allstars of New Texas. First up lets look at those very Allstars in question, Who are they? #33 Patrick Roy Goalie #25 Terry Sawchuk Goalie #4 Bobby Orr Defense #2 Eddie Shore Defense #7 Doug Harvey Defense #5 Denis Potvin Defense #22 Brad Park Defense #99 Wayne Gretzky Center #68 Mario Lemieux Center #77 Phil Esposito Center #10 Jean Beliveau Left Wing #68 Jaromir Jagr Left Wing #9 Bobby Hull Left Wing #44 Todd Bertuzzi Right Wing #15 Maurice Richard Right Wing #5 Bob Probert Right Wing #9 Gordie Howe Rover Well thats the team from New Texas, now lets take an indepth look at the players who have been announced as starting 'hot', thats on the Ice, for tonights game. Techno Robot Voice Over #25 Terry Sawchuk, Goalie. EJF Sawchuck is the second choice man to look after the net for the AllStars, as Patrick Roy is out for 5 to 6 months with a broken shin, dislodged kneecap and several torn muscles in his leg after a horrible car collision with a truck. But, after the performances Sawchuck has been pulling off, it is likely that Roy may get a lot more recovery time on the bench than he was expected to need. Sawchuck has managed to keep the score against the Allstars to 31, thats the joint second lowest score in the EIHL, the lowest being with the league leaders the Ragin' Cajuns who have only let the puck in the net 26 times this season. His athletic saves and cat-like reflexes allow him to not only look like the best net minder in EIHL, but to get close to being the best net minder in EIHL. I look forward to seeing more of this raw young talent in coming seasons, as Sawchuck is still only 19. Techno Robot Voice Over #4 Bobby Orr, Defense EJF An under achiever in the New Texas league, Bobby Orr was still picked by the coach to play for the Inter-Regional team this season. In some ways I can see why, his pace along the back line is un-equaled in the league, which gives him the ability to spread himself right across the back quarter of the ice and still make those crucial challenges. Which brings me to the point that Orr does not fit the typical description of a defenceman in EIHL, he is fairly slight by standards and lacks the muscle build required to stand up for himself against such attacking threats as Dion Darling of the Steel. However, he does not lack guts and has been known to knock big players like Darling off their skates in his territory-which has shown itself to be a bad thing on some occasions as controlling his temper in the last few games has been an akilees heal for this man. In four of the last five games he has played he has been involved in 5 'drop stick' fights, and has served over 30 minutes in the sin bin aswell as picking up 2 match bans. Fortunatley for his boss, neither of them start for another week and therefore he is selectable for tonights game. Orr has also been ejected form the Arena twice this season, once in the last game, and once a few weeks back. A volitile character but worth his little weight in gold. Techno Robot Voice Over #7 Doug Harvey, Defense EJFAn old hero in New Texas, he played for all the big clubs as a hard hitting, law abiding defenceman before his reliability was called upon by the Allstars. His record speaks for itself, playing in 300 of the 312 he was available for selection for. He has never missed a game through suspension, and in his entire career has only served 18 minutes in the off the ice for fouls. On the ice he has scored a total of 112 goals in competitive fixtures. He has received 42 Man of The Match awards, and 4 Players Player Of The Year Awards aswell as 5 Players Of The Years Awards. His ability to check with ease on the ice has meant he is one of the greatest fair play players of the Allstars team. His defencive ratings numbers are exceedingly good, of the tackles he attempts he completes 91% of them and leaves with the puck. A further 4% the other player doesnt leave with the puck either. Techno Robot Voice Over #5 Denis Potvin Defense EJFA powerfull defender, Potvin is known for his hard man spirit and has capabality to follow his threats with firm action. In 1993 this member of the old guard commited Dennis Hopcopv to intensive care after Hopcopv pushed his luck on the ice as he tried to push the giant Potvin out of his way. At nearly 7ft tall, Potvin is not the man you push away, rather, he is the one who you ask 'How High?' when he tells you to jump. His record on the ice is not the best, as he has no super talent. He is a good ice hockey player, but he does not excell clearly in any perticular area except authority. His coaches through the years have made attempts to introduce skills to The Giant, but to no avail. It seems this 30 year old heavy wieght will see out his career by enforcing the law on the ice, or even off it. Techno Robot Voice Over #68 Mario Lemieux Center EJFAs a young player, Mario broke the mould of traditional players. His passion was track and field athletics untill various injuries meant he lost the shear mobility he neaded to jump over bars or launch javelins. He could however still hold a hockey stick, and his adopted passion began to take over his life. By 23 this boy was recognised by many as the greatest young player in Texas, and enjoyed fame and success playing for all the big teams. His reputation grew and expectations were high, untill on the eve of his 25th birthday Mario was the subject of a violent exposee in a national paper revealing him as a drug addict. His contracts were terminated immediatley when he conceaded that all accusations were true and began his life in recovery. It took 5 years for him to return to the scene under the eye of the Allstars as he debuted against other Texas teams. He hadn't lost it, his pace and ability still exceed many other players allowing to mediate between a center ice man and a forward in game. A historic player. Techno Robot Voice Over #77 Phil Esposito Center EJFThis boy is a great player, aged 22 he's still got a lot of growing to do inside. We don't know much about him as this is his first year on the scene after playing for low league clubs in various regions and nations for 2 years. All I can tell you is he is fast and is not afraid to shoot from distance. he's got guts too, a broken nose on his part proves that as he attacked hard and was flattened out as he attempted to score. A mysetrious young man to say the least. So thats the starting 6 for the New Texas, now lets take a quick look at their record in the league so far. The NewTexas All Stars 10 7 0 3 14 62 31 Thats only 6 dropped points in 10 games, an amazing record! Amazing as it is, their recent results, excluding their recent 4-0 win, have been quite different to their previous quality. In the last 5 games they dropped 4 points, which is 2/3 od their total dropped points this season. They have conceaded 11 goals in one match against realtivly poor oposition. This is not the performance we come to expect from the Allstars, and they proved it when they got a kick start to begin winning again with a clean sheet against their last opponents. Lets hope this form slips again before tonights game. But with that, I'l hand you back to the studio to see The Big Shwag and JT. JT Thanks for that Elizah, a great report. Now, its time for The Big Shwag to run over to the fixtures board for our Run Down of tonights matches across Texas. The Big Shwag Here is the list of tonights games, it should be a toughy for a few teams like the Ice Bats, who I think will have a damned struggle to loose with dignity tonight. ***********For Immediate Release*********** This is a Special Report from the NewTexas Network News (NNN) at the The Pheonix Ice Center in New Hampshire City Park, Pablicosta . BJJB: "Hello Texans. This is Billy Jack Johnny Bob (BJJB) for the NNN on a somber occasion. In an unprecedented action in the EIHL, NewTexas Defenseman Denis Potvin caught up to the coach of the Pablicosta Steel the tunnel after the game tonight. Potvin was seen with his stick still firmly in hand and it seems like there were some terse words between the two large men. All the NNN could capture was Potvin bellowing, "We wuz robbed!". Immediately following that outburst, Potvin hauled off and took a ferocious high stick to the unsuspecting coach's noggin. Security guards quickly steped in and detained Potvin. The status of the bleeding Pablicosta Steel coach is unknown. This is quite a turbulent scene as both players and more security guards are rushing to the scene. We are being forced back from what we can only describe as the Rumble in the Tunnel! This is mayhem hockey fans! We will get back to you as more news becomes available. This is Billy Jack Johnny Bob signing out for the NewTexas Network News." This story broght to you by:
