I was just browsing along and found this quiz. It has some biases (but it's better than the political compass thing) and it doesn't cover as many issues as I would like, but it gives a good general sense of where you stand in American politics.

My results:

Idealistic

1: Libertarian (100%)
2: Anarcho-syndicalist (73%)
3: Conservative (73%)
4: Traditional Societies (60%)
5: New Labour (58%)
6: Authoritarian (36%)
7: Liberal (36%)
8: Totalitarian (20%)

Pragmatic

1: Liberal (100%)
2: Anarcho-syndicalist (85%)
3: Totalitarian (85%)
4: New Labour (83%)
5: Traditional Societies (73%)
6: Libertarian (69%)
7: Authoritarian (66%)
8: Conservative (51%)

I don't quite understand the 55% Totalitarian, but it seems pretty accurate overall. Who'da thunk I'd be liberal :p

What is up with all these "syndicalists"? We have a degree in history and philosophy and have never heard that term in our life! For others that may be in the dark like us:
