This is a production of: HotRodia Nightly News Howdy! I'm John Wayne and we're interrupting your regularly scheduled program to bring you breaking news from the capital of HotRodia. Let's go to our reporter at the scene, Marissa Thong...uh...I mean Chong. Hey John! I'm here in the auditorium where the action is getting started. As you can see, my behind...uh...I mean behind me, there is a press conference about to get underway. If you like things big like I do, you'll like this for sure! The Minister of Hospitality is going to make a huge announcement and he has requested that it be aired live on every television station in the country, an unprecedented move. Here he comes now...let's see what he has to say. "Ladies, Gentleman, and whatever those things in the back row are, today is a historic day for HotRodia. Over the past few months, I have been in contact with the leadership and the good people of the nations that seceded from our state many decades ago, HotRodia II and HotRodia III. Now we have always had cordial relations with those nationstates, but things have improved beyond mere cordiality. We see more than ever that our world is far too divided. Divided by nationality, religion, culture, and language. Today, we will end one of the divisions between our peoples, namely nationality. No longer are there HotRodia IIites or HotRodia IIIites. We are united by our passion for classy automobiles and greasy food. We are united by a shared ancestry and history. And now, we are once more united by our nationality...we are all HotRodians! The audience applauds wildly and then settles down a bit so the speech can continue. Today, I formally announce the consolidation of three proud nations. HotRodia, HotRodia II, and HotRodia III, are all under the proud banner of... The Intercooled International Engine of The HotRodian Empire! The audience applauds once more, and the Minister of Hospitality has to waves them down for several minutes before it is calm enough for him to continue. In recognition of our new status as fellow Imperial Citizens, we have formed a free trade agreement with HotRodia II and HotRodia III called the Inter-Regional HotRodian Free Trade Accord, or IRHRFTA. I know, that's a terribly long acronym, but for the benefit of unity, we can easily pay the price of having an agreement with an overly long name. That's all for now, feel free to return to watching that famous drama, "Copulation and the Urban Environment". Well, I'm sure we'll hear more about this later in the day at our regularly scheduled news hour. Back to you, John. Thanks Marissa. This is John Wayne, and you've just witnessed history with our Special Report live from the capital. I'll see you tonight when we discuss the effects of the policy of enforced celibacy among media personalities. |
