Ok y'all, I wanna make a map of Texas. To do this you need to tell me where your nation will be in Texas. Please dont be overextravagant in your claims. |

Did you just ask Texans to not be extravagant? Thats like asking water to not be wet! I think Big Tex is still working on the map thing so maybe you should contact him and volunteer to help.

Well, for my part, Greenspoint is in the area of north Houston, and of course The Republic of Northwest Houston is, oddly enough, in the area of northwest Houston.

I live in the Rio Grande Valley. I would like that part of Texas. The Rio Grande Valley consists of 4 counties. But I only want two of them. I claim: 1. Hidalgo County ---------and--------- 2. Cameron County

well, if we're claming whole COUNTIES... i'll take all of brazoria and part of montgomery (the part w/ the woodlands, cause that's where my grandparents live). after all, there are 254 counties to choose from... |

After viewing The Heartland's and Wysteria's map pages, I got to thinking about a map for Texas. But I figured everyone knew what Texas looks like irl, why bother trying to define where all our billions of folks actually live wthin it. If everyone else decides they actually want a map, cool, I'm all for it, but if we never had one I'd not be upset. ![]()

I've got a crazy Idea. Instead of having Texas land locked next to some other regions, why not just create an island in the shape of Texas. |

I like EGT's idea about the counties (BTW, there's 254). If several Nations want the same one, we can have a lottery, auction, or paper- rock- scissors or something. And, using the original Texas land claims (illegitimate as they were) gives us some breathing room. To the Texas History challenged, if any, the original Republic of Texas claimed the entire length of the Rio Grande as the southern and western borders of the nation. This would have put the eastern half of New Mexico, the OK panhandle, and large chunks of Kansas and Colorado, all the way to Wyoming. Just because I figured out how, i've included a picture of that map:

True to our New England roots, we'd like to be in in the northeast corner, which might not be easy in a region shaped like Texas. |

As this topic seems to be unlocked again, I would like to go on record as endorsing Ever Greater Texas' idea to use as a template for the Texas Regional map a combination of the overall boundaries of the claimed lands of the old, real Republic of Texas and a contemporary county map of the State of Texas. We now have over 200 nations and Texas has 254 counties. Each nation can choose one county. Dual claims can be resolved by drawing, nation birthdate, rock-paper-scissors, or any other acceptable method. It would give us room to grow immediately by 44 counties (as of this morning) and then, by dividing in county sized chunks of the old Texas claims on parts of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Kansas, we can almost double the space. I have no idea if this is technically feasible, but seeing other regions maps, I don’t know why it wouldn’t be. And, while we’re at it, the Republic of Rixtex stakes its claim to Ellis County. Thank you for your consideration. |
