Here is a very interesting Internet thing that has some relevance to NationStates. We humbly thank Wysterian Augustalia for posting it on their board and for Equus for advertising it for us to see. Here is a quiz about the Political Compass that you believe in: Quiz Rather than just placing you on the left or right of the spectrum, this quiz shows where you stand on an authoritarian or libertarian perspective as well. This additional dimension is what helps to distinguish notables such as Mahatma Gandhi and Stalin on these scales. On a traditional left-right scale, both are simply considered left-wing, but their philosophies and approach were markedly different! If you decide to take the test and post the results here, be sure to indicate whether you answered as yourself or your nation! (And yes, you can post both.) Here is what Big Tex figured out for both himself and as a standard for NewTexas: Economic Left/Right: 2.62 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.69 We've attached a link to our spectrum Here that displays the scale and our position on it. We are not sure exactly what this means, we would have sworn we were mor Authoritarion than Libertarian, but maybe not. There are no real life people counterparts other than possibly the great enconomist Milton Friedman. For comparison purposes, here is a general chart: ![]() Feel free to add yours, or not. |

According to that quiz, I am just slightly left of centre. Economic Left/Right: -1.62 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.82 Pretty middle of the road, it seems. |
