***********For Immediate Release*********** Today the NNN is still in the sunny southern region of Texas at the nation of Rabanito, home of the benevolent dictator Don Porfirio doing a final report on the new airstrip for Lone Star 2, the second Texas Space Shuttle. DBF: "Hola Texans y Tejanos! This is Daisy Belle Flores from the NewTexas Network News (NNN). We are still here in Rabanito and we must say that General Porfirio Diaz has done a spectacular job of build a world class Airstrip truly illustrating that Texas has the best, brightest and most hard-working citizens in the entire world! This airstrip is most befitting Lone Star 2 which is the most technically advanced space shuttle in existence today. Don Porfirio has named the airstrip the Lone Star Space Center and has completed the launch pad, the landing strip and the control towers. This nation is has been very busy for the last several weeks and it all seems to have paid off. In a stunning finale, Gral. Porfirio Diaz proudly showed off his nation and followed that with a wonderful Mexican Dinner for the many visiting Foreign Dignitaries including Big Tex and several other leaders of Texas nations. We here at the NNN have all had a great time in The Dictatorship of Rabanito and look forward to the coming back, however we have more stories to cover and will be returning to NewTexas. This is Daisy Belle Flores signing off from Rabanito, we now go to Billy Joe Jim Bob with an on the spot interview with Dilbert McDork. BJJBob: "Thank you Daisy Belle, we are here at NewTexasBeanCounters Inc. (NBC) to interview Dilbert McDork about the recent donations to the Texas Space Program. Howdy Dilbert, how's the counting going" DMcD: "Thank you Billy Joe Jim Bob. We have been reviewing the monetary donations to the program and will report what has been currently been added to the Texas Space Program Account. We here at NBC can happily report that we now have:
BJJBob: "Thanks Dilbert that certainly is a chunk of change! What can you tell us about the military gains?" DMcD: "Normally NBC keeps a general accounting of everything, but in an effort to increase security, Big Tex has requested that all control and accounting of military resources be turned over to Colonel Harley Hongos of the NewTexas Armed Forces. So we cannot really talk about that Jim Bob." BJJBob: "Very well Dilbert, is there anything else you and NBC are counting?" DMcD: "Of course, we count everything even the nebulous! By that, we mean that a several nations are providing moral support and generous offers of 'whatever is needed':
BJJBob: "Thank you Dilbert, we have just received urgent word that Daisy Belle is in NewTexas at the Corporate Headquarters. Welcome back Daisy Belle and we hand it over to you." DMcD: "BBBBut, we weren't through yet...." <Due to the great quantity of information to present and the talkativeness of the NNN staff, this broadcast is being interrupted here and will continue tomorrow with Daisy Belle reporting from NewTexas about the military and much more> <NNN resumes yesterday's newscast> DBF: "Thank you Billy Joe, it is great to be back in NewTexas, that supersonic jet Big Tex has is really overkill within the region, but we thank him nonetheless! We are at the Corporate Headquarters of NewTexas here in NewAustin. We were have requested an interview with Col. Hongos about the military and a report on the 'disappearing nations' of Texas, but seem to have walked into a press conference instead." <cut to scene of Colonel Harley Hongos at a podium with Big Tex> Col. Hongos: "Greetings gathered citizens and reporters. I am here today to announce that the "disappearing nations" of Texas had subsided for a week or two, but reports are that more nations are being targeted as we speak. Just recently one of the Texas Billionaire Club disappeared from the face of the Texas map and this is very disconcerting. Several days ago The Confederacy of Dall Sheep and their On Billion citizens mysteriously disappeared overnight without as much as a peep. Now we have reports that another member of the Texas Billionaire Club - The Democratic States of Big Daddy V - has broken all contact with the outside world. No one has seen Big Daddy V in almost three weeks and we are very concerned. To top it off, UN Member nation, The Republic of Crockett, are also maintaining total communications silence. These are not the only two, The Rogue Nation of FtwCrew, new citizens, The Rogue Nation of Psychopaths and Texans and The Confederacy of Southnorthern Texas, and, our 2003 NBA Champions - The People's Republic of Spursville are all also experiencing communications difficulties. I am going to turn it over to Big Tex for further details." Big Tex: "Greetings citizens of Texas. It is truly still a mystery as to why the nations of Texas are disappearing. We thought we had a lead when it was discovered that 9 out of the last 18 nations to die were Republics, however that line did not pan out as several Confederacies started dying as well. Now there is no pattern whatsoever. The reported "Blue Glow" and the "electromagnetic pulse weapon" are still unsubstantiated. As of today, we are promoting Colonel Hongos to the position of General and putting him in charge of all security. His first order of business will be to try and defend Texas from whatever nefarious forces are attempting to deplete us of our nations. His secondary duties will include managing the Texas Space Station Defense forces. We will now open the floor to questions. Yes, Daisy Belle?" DBF: "Colo, er, General Hongos, what can you tell us about the Space Station Defense forces?" Gen. Hongos: "Yep Daisy Belle that is going to take some getting used to on our part too. So far our Space Program Defense forces consists of:
DBF: "Is there anything you can add about the disappearing nations?" Gen. Hongos: "Not much more at this time. The NewTexas Spy Brigade is still tying to ascertain who or what is behind the plot against Texas. We are very concerned with losing UN Members as that weakens Texas's defenses. We urge all new nations or actually, any nations that may be so inclined, to join the UN to assist in the defense of Texas." DBF: "Thank you for the information General Hongos, we are sure our viewers will be glad to know that someone is monitoring this disturbing situation! Big Tex, can you tell us what is going on with the Space Program now that we have the airstrip?" Big Tex: "Well yes we can Daisy Belle. First off, as everyone can certainly see, we have had a tremendous outpouring of support for the program and we thank everyone for that. There is still a 'wish list' of things we need prior to making the first launch a reality. Here is a short list:
DBF: "Thank you for the update Big Tex. We have to sign off now, but will be reporting as events develop. This is Daisy Belle Flores signing off for Billy Joe Jim Bob and NNN." <Editors Note: The NNN has been posting transcripts of its broadcasts in the Texas offsite Forum in case nations miss the breaking news> |
