now, this is really one for the current affairs section but ill start some political topics anyway even though its not on the forum yet. Sad as this question may seem, it can actually cause quite a bit of debate so get postin! i say first past the post, as undemocratic as it may be compared to PR, its still fairly democratic and still gives ppl a say, it also avoids coalitions and makes governing an easier progress. After all, Germany was PR, and was regarded as the most democratic constitution in the world, and the slow pace of the government contributed to big adolf gettn in power, |

good ole' modies lol. ok, pr, in general is much fairer, but more complicated...blah blah, but i think, overall pr is better for a country, HOWEVER: >Some PR systems, eg STV are soooooo complicated that people mite just say "fuck voting, i dno wots goin on" >With some PR systems voters have more than one vote to make, which, again, can leave them very confused >PR stops large and *cough* responsible parties from gaining a larg majority > Small extremist parties gain seats, seats that they would NOT have had under FPTP The argument goes on and on and on............. |

i prefer Pr to be honest. i think its better off getting a proportional representation of what the country/place/dog/whatever wants, and going from there. |

America use PR I think. Its Spain who is the other country who uses FPTP, no? Anyway, I don't think that PR is all that confusing but still, some people will get confused as it is different and it will take more time to vote and to count the votes up. Not only that but even though PR is fairer I would go with FPTP |
