This is what I would do.

As in all situations, you play it by ear.  It would be difficult to draw a line and say this, this and this is what should be done.  Most of the brothers have chimed in and it would seem that most are willing to pay for the date.  It must be a societal thing where we independent, working, single women must feed the ego of a would be suitor. Even if we make as much or more than they do.

It has been my experience woman are just as much judging their suitors as they are stroking their egos in such situations. independent, working, single women shouldn’t act so innocent :Fes:

It's funny, I haven't dated in years - but I still like my husband to take care of the bills when we go out.

I do all the banking and most of the household shopping. I go to the bank, take out the money, hand it to him and expect him to pay when we go to a restaurant.

Old habits die hard.

My wife does the same thing. Must by psychological. She says that she like the way that I make her feel taken care of.

Or like me she might be too lazy to want to calculate the tip :rotfl:

tip is duble the tax - simple

Edit,

thats a bit low now adays though. 20% is better. So then all you have to do is take the last cent digit off the bill and then duble the amount.

 probably some of that.

I just can't get it how people can't get to approximately 15% in their brain. Move the decimal to the left one place and add half again the amount. For a bill of $37.40, get $3.74; now add to that $1.87 to get about $5.61 -> round up to $6 and done.

And I tip on top of taxes.

Tax is not the same everywhere.

Besides, I never said it wasn't easy to calculate. Heck here in Ontario it used to be really simple when our taxes added up to 15%. They have been lowered to 13% now and we actually have to think.

But it doesn't matter how simple it is. I am still too lazy to do it.

This is a tough question for guys just starting to date a woman. I've always found the guy is in danger of being darned either way. If he wants to pay, he's in trouble of being accused of not respecting his date's economic independence and equality. If he wants to go 50-50, he's in trouble of being accused of not being chivalrous. :P I'm glad I'm not dating any longer.

Oh, and my wife collects my paycheck, does our financing and banking, and pays at dinner. ;)

 I found this all really funny. I'm going to remember this question and pose it to more married couples.

'When you go out, who pays the bill?'

I think I've learnt more about the nature of your marriages from that then any other question I've ever asked!

Reason #1,284 that I am glad that I am married.

I am not going to discuss the first 1,283 reasons.

I had to teach my wife most all things regarding baby care, in fact I had to change all (well most) the diapers because she found the idea disgusting.

When your old, who cares if you stink a little.
