I still find the whole way it was put down way too rude. Its okay to not like a character, but its plain rude to celebrate the death of this character like its the greatest thing ever. That's just plain rude.

Your hate for the character is also so silly, she killed a murderer. She got caught up in the emotion and acted, she server her time for it in the brig.

No it's me spanky, I actually started the discussion.

And it do not believe it was to make the character whiny, I believe it was too make Cally more realistic. Tyrol has been virtually ignoring her the past few episodes, she's married to him. Add that to the already tense circumstances they live in and it's not so completely unreasonable that she starts complaining about things.

Nevertheless, I found the way the comments were written way too rude.

Well I'm sorry you found it rude. But I'm not sorry that I said it nor do I apologize for the way I said it.

Did not some people rejoice at the death of Dukat? Did not some people cheer for Vader throwing Sidious over that railing?

Granted, Cally wasn't a villain along those lines, but my hatred for her has grown in the past three seasons. Honestly, this was a moment I was waiting for that I wasn't sure would ever come.

And when it did... it was sooooo satisfying. And I'm not ashamed to admit it. Join together, fellow Cally-haters and resolve. We're here, we thought Cally was queer, get used to it! (Sounded slightly more funny in my head, but anyway.)

I find it stange to take comments about a ficticious character in a TV show so personally.

I like Neelix, but I have heard people on here say terrible things about him. I don't get too upset about that.

By the same token, I posted something about wishing that someone would just shoot Jar-jar in the head in Phantom Menace and someone actually came back and said that they like Jar-jar, but he didn't seem to be upset that I wanted Jar-jad killed.

Really, this is just fiction. That's why it isn't called SciNonFi. Not really any reason to get upset, unless you wrote the criticized character into the story.

I think that the Cally killing Boomer event kind of makes since in the context that she was secretly carrying a torch for Tyrol and Boomer made Tyrol out to look like an ass in the whole event so she was sort of avenging the person that she um... liked. Or maybe it was her time of the month, I don't know.

Of course you may feel that, but your wording just was rude. It's death we're talking about. I don't care if it's a real person or a character. What makes it worse (for me) is that she didn't have this coming to her.

Dukat and Vader did have it coming for them, why? Because they are evil and it was quite logic with the set-up of both those stories that in the end good would win from evil.

So yeah, I really disliked the way you worded that. A simple "glad she's gone" would have been sufficient. But big smile this and applauding she's dead is just over the top for me. Plain and simple.

And Luthien has a good point, the character wasn't supposed to whiny. It was meant to be realistic and she(the actress) succeeded in that. Again, you can disagree about that and your wording in that could have been way more subtle. But you choose to overstate it and in a very rude manner to me. So that's why I commented about it.

I agree completely.

Take Harry Kim for instance. On the whole, a mostly useless character in that most of his lines included the phrase "I'm locked out!"

I even remember an episode where Naomi Wildman locked him out... from the cargo bay!

LOL, it's entertaining. And you can be passionate about it: love and hate or complete indifference.

There has been comments is this thread stating that AddleConfusion's remarks regarding the character "Calli" as being too rude. Every one is entitled to opinion. Some folks may love a character, while others hate the same character.

He clearly states that he does like the character and is happy she got killed off in the series. That's his opinion. I do not find it too rude or harsh.

"Calli" is a ficticious character, I believe the creators of the show may have wanted her to be irriating and/or annoying. Who knows? His remarks, by no means defames the actress who plays the role.

With that said,

I now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

well yeehaa good for you then, maybe you should make a thread to celebrate it....honestly how childish is this...><
And no I did not celebrate at any of those moments or events when someone died, its a part of a story and it should remain that way.
But if you wanna go diss around actors and their roles that way then be my guest i just merely spoke my opinion about it. laugh all you want and mock all you want, but im not gonna redeem myself to the same level and make some hatethread about Roslin.
If you want to comment that way then do so, freedom of speech however that also includes that I get to comment on the fact that your comment was rude, and to see you post about it with smileys laughing and everything just merely states how childish you are.
We have to take your comments serious, id suggest you do the same. its called respect

NOTE: The reason why I named the word 'rude' was a poor lack of choice, english is not my first language and I couldnt express myself very well, ill apologize for using that word and I take it back, however I will not change my opinion on his poor taste of commenting on events in series.

As I said in an earlier comment (which hasn't been responded too thusfar) I agree with your sentiment. I can understand the dislike for a character, that's all personal taste but that does not take away from the fact that you're celebrating an innocent person/characters death. Which is plain ridiculous. For the rest of my thought process see my previous post.

Better yet, I'll copy and paste it here:

It's absolutely fascinating that a fictional character can bring out such emotional reaction in people. It's just to show how good Ron Moore is at writing and producing sci-fi series and characters.

Let's return to topic, shall we, people? :chin:

I hope this series will gain an even wider audience base to such a point that will convince the Scifi Network to change their minds and to continue funding and producing another season worth. The bottom line - This series maybe base on the 1978 original series but it is nothing like the cheerful atmosphere of the then most expensive science fiction series ever produced in a television series.

I still like to know why can't the mechanical cylons talk? :headscratch:
