I watched Caprica last night. I enjoyed the movie.

Seemed like very gratuitous use of boobies for no apparent reason other than to put boobies on the screen. What am I, 14? Added nothing to the plot or the movie. Characters just keep walking by naked chicks showing their boobies in the background. Not that I don't like them, I am crazy about 'em, but it just seemed like an obvious device trying to get guys to watch what they are already going to watch anyhow.

It seemed like they had better technology on Caprica 60 years earlier than they did in BSG time.

I kind of like how they did the creation of the first Cylon though.

That's hard to say. We only had one small part of their modern technology(Pegasus). The Galactica was fifty years old and ready to be decommissioned at the begining of the series. For all we know, the technology used on the Galactica could have several generations behind Pegasus.

But Galactica came along after the events in the movie Caprica in which William Adama was a boy.

I kind of liked that about the BSG series; it wasn't about the technology mostly.

Perhaps attitudes toward computer technology radically changed during the first war with the Cylons.

Changed in what way? It would seem like their society was very computer dependant. That was their weakest link and the Cylons used it against them. Galactica on the other hand, was not as dependant on the modern technology as other ships in the fleet. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why it escaped the holocast.

I was suggesting that the CYlon war resulted in a wave of extreme technophobia and people began rejecting all the computer technology that we see in Caprica when they see where it led.

It's a good time to be a sci-fi fan.

Someone tell the owners of the Sci-Fi Channel. WWE wrestling? Horror? Enterprise? Very little SF.

Then again, look at the History Channel: Ice Road Truckers? Those tree cutters? Life after people?? WTH?

In the end we are going to have 158 channels that show people remodeling their houses and 297 channels that feature talentless "reality" shows.

And all the producers and executives will be scratching their heads wondering why they keep losing ratings to the internets.

My wife wouldn't mind... at least the home remodeling shows. She's addicted to HGTV.

I used to love the Food Network, until it became all "reality" cooking contests and Guy Fieri. Ugh. I used to love Sci Fi when they showed science fiction.

This is the problem with so many channel choices: niche networks have to appeal to a broader audience. Well, that's their problem, not mine. You're right, the Internet is the future of video.

Electronic genius
A few days ago I rented Caprica and was wondering what all the hype was about. It's an interesting movie but IMO not enough material to sustain a series. Maybe that is one of the reasons why this purposed BSG spin off never took off the ground. So to speak.

The final episodes of BSG are coming to DVD and BVD. The complete series box set will also be available. They are schedule for release by July 28th. :chin: I wonder if there will be any bonus material included in the box sets? Maybe commentaries from Glen Larson or Richard Hatch about the comparison between the original and relaunch series?

That would be really cool! I would love to know what Richard Hatch thinks of the series reboot.

I'm watching the series for the 4th time. I'm still captivated to the point that I dont want to watch anything else until its over. I'm almost halfway through season 3.

This show rules, and I have turned 6 different people onto it who cursed me because they cant pry themselves away from it. lol

A Robot in Disguise

So, I finally only just recently got into and finished watching this series, like only in the last month. Mainly cos I had run out of every other sci fi show pretty much.

And I remember some here heralding its awesomeness.

Not me, I was frustrated by Season 1, which is why i gave up on it way back when it started, this time round, there were parts of season 2 that were good, and the first four eps of season 3

But from there on in, was just garbage, I dont understand what any fuss was ever about

Especially the finale, they get to earth 2.0, so basically lets all send our tech to burn in the sun, then we will build cabins and become hippies

Battlestar Galactica did get a bit lost. In season 4, the way they went through great lengths to try to weave all sorts of nonsense together, it just got a bit tiresome.
