Uh, right.  Whatever you say.

If you don't want to discuss how close the race is fine,  but don't attribute emotions to me that do not exist.  I thought we were having a friendly discussion here regarding Gore and the presidential elections.

My mistake.

Yes, a friendly discussion with you saying the ignorant and condescending remark: "How easily some miss the point." Uh, right. That was friendly. Whatever you say.

Who's whining? I think you are attributing an emotion where there is none.

Regarless of what you think, it was the closest election in history and that alone makes it historically significant if not all the various problems that surfaced in the process.

Noah this attitude that third partied candidates are expendable, unimportant, stealing votes is what makes it impossible for third party candidates to win elections. I would consider revising it as it is not healthy for the democratic process.

How close the 2000 elections where is irrelevant Nader did not cause Gore to loss. Gore lost because he did not appeal to the far left as much as Nader did. They where two separate candidates running with two different platforms, people voted for the one they wanted to be president. Nader lost and Gore Lost as well as a hand full of other people, Gorge Bush won.

Someone needs a hug. :grouphug:

I am not talking about the national election, other than to state that Gore won the popular vote. I see no whining anywhere in my posts. Simply discussion of what happened.

It's funny how people are assuming I am complaining about the outcome and claiming that third parties are "stealing votes" I said nothing of the kind. I think some of you really need to look at what's actually said rather than adding your own emotions to another people's statements.

I am pointing out that Bush won Tennesse by a very slim margin (800 people). That's all. I said PROBABLY if Nader wasn't in the race he would've gotten more votes. I really don't care as that election was over several years ago. I thought it was worth mentioning since we are discussing Gore as a possible VP.

I don't understand why this is getting so vicious.

Wow, i just read the entire 38957-Dr. Noah exchange to see if there was anything to it. Two things:
1) that's 5 minutes that I'll never get back.
2) you two should stop talking to each other.

The problem is that you still haven't gotten over the 2000 elections. Please move on.

Even though i have pointed your remarks out to you, at length; I have no doubt that you don't understand.

So, how's that moderating job working out for you?

This little payback, so there, remark of yours is referring to a topic in which, A) you asked the moderator for action, and B) I am a mod and obliged to read your exchange with RTW.

This is just you being snippy.

Edit - I responded to your first comment.

38 - I really was only making a joke. The original request for someone to take action was made when another moderator was online. I wasn't trying to send a message to you of any kind at all.

I will admit that it was payback for what I thought was a joke on your part.

In Washington we'd call that a landslide and hope, usually in vain, that King County (Seattle) doesn't find 801 votes after all the other votes have been counted.

A system of preference voting would help to resolve the issue and would encourage people to vote for who they believe in not tactically for who has the best chance of winning.

Great and a system of preference voting would make sure more people felt that way and that when people vote for minority candidates with little realistic chance of election that their vote is not wasted.

There can only be one President. We tried having the #2 guy get the VP role and it didn't work too well.
