Obama believes we need to do more to promote economic development in Mexico to decrease illegal immigration.

I wonder how he feels about promoting economic development in Iraq.

ImpulseEngine ....

The whole seat/unseat Florida and Michigan's delegations to the DNC made no sense to me either.  It's both, in my opinion, a morally incorrect decision and unbelievably stupid strategy on the part of the DNC.

I don't blame the Democratic candidates for the decision being made, but was astounded that they agreed to the pledge not to participate.  Given Senator Clinton's response, apparently the sanctions weren't that severe from the DNC for non-compliance, so I really don't why the others went along.

I don't know any details about the sanctions, but if all the candidates had simply refused, there would have been nothing the DNC could have done. What would they do, disenfranchise every candidate?

I'll tell you what the DNC did do. They made me seriously consider for the first time ever whether I want to leave the party and change to an Independent. And I wrote Howard Dean a letter to tell him so, but I doubt he'll ever personally see it.

I watched Obama and Clinton last night. A few things he said I do not agree with:

1. He will repeal the Bush Tax cuts. Could that be good for our economy? :headscratch:

2. He wants to meet with the head of Iran. Which one? The political face or the real head? To what end exactly?

3. He will not support any Iraq policy whatsoever. He continues to gloat that he was against it from the beginning and he was the only one who was that smart. Its one thing to be critical about how or why it is broken however you can make it worse.
What will he actually do with the reality of it?

4. He will be spending huge money on his health care program. He used the word subsidiesmore than three times. :ugh: Where is he going to come up with that money? :headscratch: Could that be good for our economy?

If the multitude of Mexicans I know are correct, then that's a ridiculous idea.

Any development in Mexico will simply make the corrupt government richer.

Most illegals don't want to leave their families, risk their lives, and come here. They do so out of necessity. As long as the Mexican system remains corrupt they'll continue to come.

Long term solution? Train and arm several million illegals and send them home to weed out the corruption. THEN let's talk about helping them with economic development.

In addition to being half a world away, that's not going to happen since any long-term stability/success in Iraq will be attributed to Bush.

If Iraq slips back into tyranny THAT will also reflect on Bush, hence the "bring home the troops regardless of the consequences" policy.

You think the Muslim world hates us now? Just wait until millions are purged in an Iraqi power struggle. Of course, that too could be blamed Bush. then, every future terrorist act around the world would be blamed on Bush.
