It's called setting expectations.  Women in western society have set men's expectations that they are going to pretty themselves all up for the men, and men expect it and women feel obligated to compete with the other women.

What about the metrosexuals? I know a man or two who have borrowed my eyeliner.

Men have set a rather different expectation.

I'd ask you to expound on that but nevermind. That would be like therapy all over again. This is probably where I missed the boat.

Either that or men look for pretty women and women look for men who can bring home the bacon

I make my own bacon thank you very much.... but if I were lookin', my bacon and his bacon would make an awesome ham.

I don't know whether to feel aroused or hungry by that last remark. Probably hungry.

I am not sure about metrosexuals. I have heard the term, put never really seen it applied. Is it the same as creepy?

Not creepy to me. I know one or two men who label themselves as "metrosexual" and from what I hear from them is that it's not about being effeminate but more about being clean, looking good, smelling good, being conscious of their appearance, usually single. Think of it as a male version of Intrepid sans the blue dress

So basically a fop or a dandy?

Gee whiz, if all men were as overly-concerned about their appearance as women, we'd all have been killed on the roads by now.

No argument from me. There can only be one drama queen in this family and nobody better be borrowing my stuff, especially my shoes.
