Hard to choose just one. About a dozen of them are tied for first place in some way, shape or form. |

Although it's not necessarily one of my favorites, I watched For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky the other night. I must say, it would have been nice to see more McCoy stories throughout the run of TOS.
I thought the incurable disease angle was a nice touch, even if I know how it turns out. When watching this one, I realized, probably for the first time, that the title has a double meaning. I also never thought before of how both halves of the title can be taken literally. It was Kirk's reiterating what the old man (he who appeared in at least three TOS episodes, incidentally) said just before his death that got me to thinking about this. One of the more interesting visuals of the episode had to do with the simultaneous (and different) motions used in the film for the movement of the Enterprise and for Yonada. It's almost dizzying if you look at the movements too closely. I'm guessing that that editing wasn't (for the time) very easy to accomplish. "You will learn what it means to be our enemy ... before you learn what it means to be our friend." Ouchy.

I think I'll go with The Savage Curtain. I liked the weird silicon based alien, dialogue between Kirk and Lincoln, the introduction of General Green, I'd like to see more about him as a matter of fact. Not to mention Kahless and Surak too. |

^^^ Noah, Hey. Good to see you here again. Just a couple of points-- Yarnek wasn't silicon-based (or at least it wasn't said), and Green was a Colonel. But I still missed you.

Did anyone notice that the Sheliak looked a lot like the rock creatures from this episode ? Likely just a curious coincidence. |

^^^ I believe I did think of that when I first saw the episode. I wonder if there was any deliberate attempt to it.

For me, the best third season episode belong to "Let that be your Last Battlefield." The crew didn't understand why these two aliens, who appears to be similar, could hate each other so much and so long, they had forgot how to make peace.
This episode also had plenty of political undertone and social issues. Two of Star Trek's best qualities that carried over to other Trek series. It also interesting to note the planet Charon was these two aliens' home world. Was this episode the inspiration for scientists to name Pluto's moon? Your guess is as good as any.
