you like hairy guys? how does this guy rate?

All that long hair would be a safety hazard in your trade , you put in a hairnet or inside a hat I presume.

BTW : 50 and a granddad already , you must have been an early starter as far as becoming a dad is concerned.
So are you called poppy , or grandpop, or grandpa , or granddad by the kiddy ?

<< I am wee bit : jealous : too , no grandkid on the way , yet , that I know of. , that's sometime I am looking forward too , the teaching to fish , taking them camping and on 4x4 holidays , is a very appealing prospect , and I know my wife would love to have an excuse spoil them too >>

Well a guy who uses power machines and power tools , should be careful if he has long hair.

A timber turning lathe will take a scalp off pretty quickly , so will bench drill . The results would be very nasty and grisly .... and I've seen it happen , once was enough .

I am sure after 30 years as a carpenter he knows all this.

The kids call me Grandad Somerled... Grandad of four, yep... thats four. One boy, three girls. I have two adult children both married with two kids each. I recently posted here at Sistertrek an article from The Sydney Morning Herald featuring my darling Grandaughter of 3 yrs old
I did start early as you said Somerled, teenage dad, though at fifty not unusual to be a grandad, having a child in mid twenties you would now have a 25yr old offspring. I do like it when strangers mistake me as the parent of my grandkids, bit of a boost for the ego. Being a relatively young Grandparent has great advantages, can keep up with the lil ones and have lots of fun. I love it. Then hand them back all hyped up and spoilt rotten.
I am a construction carpenter, outside work mostly so my tools are portable, seldom use a fixed lath or bench drill. My hair tied in a ponytail at work, in over 30yrs I have only had one incident, a hand held power drill caught my pony tail and ripped a fistful of hair into it's electric motor. Left me with a bald patch for six months. the drill stopped immediatly and wouldn't start again, It was a large power drill, not yer handyman throw away. I put it into the shop for repair, the hair was wrapped around the bushes and both were melted together.

That would have hirt !!!

When I was a cadet chemist , I spent some time in the sample room , big fixed machines in there for grinding, drilling, cutting , heat treating , lathing, milling and separating materials and obtaining samples.

One of the other cadets had long hair which got caught by a high speed drill (10,000 rpm) for ultra hard materials , half his scalp and face were ripped off before the safety switch kicked in . Was not a pretty sight , I would not want to have been him .

4 grandkids ..... I AM JEALOUS !!!!

My eldest boy is 24 and not yet found a girl that meets his high standards (or so he says) , my other boy is 18 and everytime I see him with a girl , it's a different one (a chip of the old block - playing the field) , he's planning on doing medicine next year . My girl is 16 and very highly motived to do well at school , plenty of boys eying her but the sons keep them at a distance .... very protective. Likely to be a few years before I can anticipate pophood.

And get me wounded in the process! :P

But I do not know if anyone really wanted to know how hairy I am. ;)

And hopefully Luthien will leave it at some small parts of hair she shaves off instead of whole figures and such.

She wouldn't dare to anyway. :P
