I'm Captain Kirk!

George Takei reprises his role as Sulu in this full length time travel episode. It's a must for fans of The Original Series. Check it out! http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/weat_streams.html |

Okay, I really liked this episode. I'm happy to see Takei (Sulu), Whitney (Rand), and Majel Barrett Roddenberry in it. I'm really happy it has MBR's blessing.
The story was quite good. As an avid TOS fan, I of course loved the references to several episodes and films of Trek. I thought the young Sulu and Chekov were spot on--they both sounded very much like the originals. I thought Scotty was very good as well, and I liked Kirk. The actor playing Kirk had some of Shatner's mannerisms down; it can't be easy doing that part. The character playing Mr. Spock was very Vulcan-like, although for some reason he reminded me much more of Mr. Tuvok than he did Spock. I could live with that. Bones was IMO the least convincing, but that doesn't mean I didn't like his portrayal. I did.
Alana Sulu was very good in her role. She really seemed to be enjoying the chance to shine in this one. Other points I really liked (I want to watch this at home again, and in a different format, before I comment too much on it)-- The sound effects were almost all original, which was nice. Using the environmental suits seen in The Tholian Web was a nice touch. The Romulan ships were very well done, IMO. My son, who also watched it with me this afternoon, was impressed with the special effects (these don't matter much to me, but I thought I would mention it in case there are any fanboys reading this. :Fes:). Fire, Thanks a bunch for sending this link along. It is much appreciated! BTW, in case you read this first, you have a PM that I need you to read.
