I've never smoked and never will.

funny i used to say the exact same thing. then one night when I was drinking I ran out of cigars, wanted a smoke, asked my buddy sean if i could bum one. and thats how it started. I really liked the buzzed it gave. nows its a little buzz. and end up smoking more.

My step-father started smoking that way at around the age of 40.

Can I ask how some of you started smoking?
I don't mean to offend but I really don't see a reason why I would start smoking and carry it on
I'm just curious

This is a general question by the way

its cheaper and better for your health if you dont start.

i already in this thread said how I started. I still love a good cigarette, but find myself craving them.

What I can't understand is how someone can start smoking as an adult. When you're young you have the 'young and stupid' excuse. Which I think is valid.

Kate,

Well, it's still great that you did!

Did I mention that I had a physical (about two months ago)? Well, during the examination, they asked me how long ago I had quit smoking. They (seriously!) wanted to know how many months--not years--ago I had quit. So, I had to calculate twenty-eight years, ten months--LOL! (BTW, this was for an additional life insurance policy, so they must have their reasons.)

I started when I was 15. Did it to be cool. About the time I stopped thinking it was cool...about a month or so later, I was hooked.

Frimp,

Have you quit since, or do you still enjoy smoking?
