So I was in the bathroom earlier this evening (a dorm bathroom) and this girl walks in and I swear she had on this musky guy or old person scent on. I tried SO hard not to just
but it got me thinking - do a lot of girls like to wear perfume or scented spritzers? I personally don't, I like to smell CLEAN.I do have a small bottle of something that was a birthday present and I use it every once in a while, but I don't put it on every single day, and I hope it doesn't make people gag. |

I strongly dislike perfumes, colognes...etc... A few years ago I tried looking for some I could buy for myself, and I must have smelled every kind in the store. I couldn't find one that I liked. It all smells too strong to me. To be honest, men's fragrances don't bother me as much, as long as there is not a ton of it applied. And as long as it's deodorant and not perfume, cologne...etc... |

Another thought occurred to me - what about scented lotions? I like lotion, but sometimes those smells can be overpowering as well. |

I am not big on scents but I do like to wear perfume on special occasions. Years ago when I was in France I got a bottle of Opium (the perfume - not the drug! ) It is one scent I really like - but I still have about 3/4 of the bottle after all this time. |

Personally, I prefer that discrete bubble bath fragrance on a lady. If she's not a lady any cheap perfume will do.... I don't wear cologne much myself, but I do shower every day, often with a scented soap like "Coast" or something (not Irish Spring; that's foul) and I"m not really a B.O. type person. Although sometimes after a hot day in running shoes you might want to stand back when I take them off... |

Irish Spring keeps deer away from your plants. There's this one friend of mine, I used to like him a lot...like, a lot a LOT, and both he and my old boss seem to have the same cologone or something. I personally think both of them don't need it, but you definately know when they walk by. |

other: Unless it's a really super stong smell, I wouldn't be able to smell it. Even then it would probably smell like something it isn't. |

Now that I've finally learned how to use perfume.....or fragrance..... I do use it all depending on my outfit, the occasion and mood. I can't use perfume at work, not that I can't but I'd rather not. In the workplace, I like to smell "clean" so a really hot shower and a good old fashioned bar of Ivory soap will do the trick. When I am dressed up for a really formal occasion, I feel naked without a good perfume. When I have a pair of jeans on and a white t-shirt, sometimes a very light cologne or as the french like to call it "toilet water" will do.But always, always light enough in dose so that only a person two inches away from me can smell it. |

I think your sense of smell diminishes as you grow older. I workded third shift and whne all the first shift women came into work my eyes watered and I started sneezing. It was so strong, and I wasn't the only one. The scent isn't meant to please the women, its meant to attract men. There is a hormaonal derivitive that can be added to perfume that increases its atractive power. But, yes most people over do it and would be better off taking a hot shower with soap. The spray the stuf in the ait and walk through the mist method is probably best for reducing overkill. |

Yes - the amount of perfume used by some ladies is too much , and actually masks their own natural pheromones , cutting their chances being noticed in a way they hope for. Apart for the guys to say , pew !!! and to try to stay up wnd. |

Every female I know closely wears perfume. Wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, cousins, aunts, grandmothers, a lady here at work. I just thought it was mandatory, or something, so this thread is kind of surprising!
In fact, I could probably walk blind-folded into a room where all those women are present and tell each one by the scent of their perfume (though a couple wear the same)...

^^^ And if you were to walk into some random room and smell that particular perfume, would you associate it with that woman you know? |

My wife and I were watching the news a few months ago. I mentioned that the makeup artist must really hate the female Anchor. My lovely bride asked why and I proceeded to deconstruct her make-up job from rouge (too much and uneven) to lipstick (too much glos for the cameras) including her base (not blended into the neck you could see it stop at the chin line) My lovely bride when into the bed room and came back out giving me a strange look. "What?" I asked. "I was just checking to see if you have been using my stuff" she said "And......" "I couldn't tell" So yes, i have this stigma of understanding the basics of womens fasion. It all really stems from reading my ex-girlfreinds copies of Cosmo before she could ask me to take the quizzes.
