Don't make me use my bare hands on you.
Lots and lots of new special effects in this episode as you might imagine. I still love it.

One of my all-time favorite episodes.

It was fantastic! I Tivoed it and have watched three times already. The editing still sucks. They edited out, "Vulcans never bluff." It was still great.
Things I liked:
They got the scale of the Doomsday Machine right.
Interior shots of the shuttlecraft bay were awesome!
Exterior shots of Constellation were awesome!
Battle scenes were incredible!
The Doomsday Machine's nuclear blast ..... :scared:

Enough said, I'm watching it again. :yippee: :omg: :yippee: :omg: :yippee:

by the way, I love the TOS generice enemy weapons fire sound effect. It covers disruptors, the doomsday machine, the weapons in the wink of an eye, .....

errr... whats all the excitment about? Are you excited after watching a reworked special effects TOS? or is it just your first viewing of "Doomsday Machine"?

P.S just read a couple of threads regarding enhanced TOS episodes, so I'm guessing this is another. Very resentful, I have not seen any, anywhere. No S/T on tv of any description, no enhanced DVD's I have seen or heard for sale in stores... I sometimes wish I was American but then realize what I'd loose compared to what I'd gain. Vegimite, meat pies and holden cars... then again maybe...

Shock after shock. First, the distress call from the Constellation, a starship as the same class as the Enterprise, and commanded by Brand Decker, one of Kirk's oldest classmates; A call badly garbled, and cut off in the middle.

The call seemed to have come from the vicinity of M-370, a modest young star with a system of seven planets. But when the Enterprise arrived in the system, the Constellation was not there - and neither was the system.

The star had not gone nova; it was as placid as it had always been. But, of the planets, there was nothing left but asteroids, rubble and dust..

Lt. Uhura tried to project the line of the distress call. That line led through four more former solar systems-all, now nothing but asteroids, rubble and dust...No, not quite: The two inner planets of the fifth system appeared to be still intact-and from somewhere near where the third planet should have been, Lt. Uhura found the weak beacon of the Constellation, no longer signaling distress, but black disaster...

Hoss, Fire,

That's great that you enjoyed it so much. Good to see ol' Matt Decker get his refurbishing. ;) This episode was the first one I ever saw at a convention, I believe.

From James Blish' 1969 adaptation.
Also in this adaptation L-374 was referred to as M-370.

Also, Brand Decker never fly's the shuttle craft into the Machine.

OK, I just saw this last night for the first time. It's the first of the "enhanced" TOS episodes I've seen as broadcasted on TV.

I must admit I like some of the enhancements. I wasn't quite sure what they were going to do with the D. Machine, since there was an alternate CGI model they were going to use that was pretty far out.

I like the exterior shots of the ships and the one where Dekker's shuttlecraft comes toward the camera was really cool.

Is some dialogue clipped from this episode? They shouldn't be doing that. I've seen this ep a million times and I know some stuff was missing.

Hmmm....

Yes, all of the broadcast television stuff is trimmed.
