Late last night, at a time when only Fire and Franko are capable of watching TOS, I watched Whom Gods Destroy. It's not one of the strongest efforts, but it does have some interesting aspects to it. I liked seeing an Andorian and a Tellarite, as well as a plethora of aliens I can't begin to identify. Garth (Steve Inhat) did some great work on other shows (Mission: Impossible comes to mind). I wonder what he thought of this role. As always, it was good seeing Batgirl (Yvonne Craig); I thought blowing her up was a bit much, but Garth was, after all, insane. His character near the end of the episode--complete with transference of identity in place--was a great contrast. His acting during the final minute or two is the Inhat I know best. The chess problem was a neat idea of Kirk's. The teaser when Garth is Spock is great. Kirk almost blurts out the countersign, but then realizes he'd better test Spock instead. Seeing the refurbished neural neutralizer was a treat, too. And the notes to this episode mention that M. and D. Okuda used much of the info. in this and in The Mark of Gideon to establish that Spock was at the academy early on. I thought that that was interesting. Elba II--I must visit that place one day.

^^^ That's Yvonne Craig in the episode (and as Batgirl), not Yvonne De Carlo (of movie and Munsters fame) |

^^^ Just checking Minuet. Nicely done. But I stand by my contention that we three are the only ones that watch TOS late at night. You're fast asleep, or on vacation, at that time.

^^^ You once said that you don't collect t.v. shows. I think that you should--no, I'm ordering you to--consider it VERY STRONGLY in the case of TOS. If I need to talk to your husband, then so be it. Please set a place for me at the table tonight. Thanks. |

If it wasn't so darn expensive I would buy the TOS DVDs. But I get to watch the show every day so I don't feel deprived. Just finished watching "The Devil in the Dark" |

Yes, I know that some of the series are expensive. I mentioned in another (VOY) thread how I purchased two seasons of the United Kingdom release of VOY for almost the same price as one season of the United States release. And the British version gives you better packaging and more features. Go figure....
Such a top-notch episode. One of the very best, IMO. "No Kill I."

Don't make me use my bare hands on you.

Reminds me of T'Pau. Eighties band had a hit that was called something like Heart and Soul. |

Just some more trivia for you, Fes. One of my favourite jazz guitarists did an album called "Atavachron". He has always been a big Trek fan. He's from the UK, also and has recorded with J.L. Ponty, Gong, UK, Tempest, and has several solo albums. Yes, the music is a bit esoteric. Atavachron: Allan Holdsworth |

^^^ Thanks, Franko. J. L. Ponty, eh? Not bad at all! I'm looking at your link now. My first thought was that I was looking at a cross between Chekov (yet in a red shirt!) and George Harrison.
