It's been on for a few moths now and we are not seeing a lot of replies on the Remastered review threads but from a few people. So, I thought I would take the temperature of why this is so. Your feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

Swidden, sometimes I think it's just you and I watching the Remastered Episodes.

I've had that impression too. Others have weighed in on occasion, but quite infrequently. Early on, elsewhere, I asked Fesarius if he was watching them and he indicated that he was more interested in the original form, which, from a purist point, I can certainly understand and respect.

Those living overseas can't get these remasters, at least not yet. And only Minuet has indicated an ability to find them being broadcast on an American station that broadcasts into Canada in her area. So I realize that viewership is limited a bit yet.

I wish I could, but I don't subscribe to cable or satellite. So I can't watch them.

No, I haven't been watching these. I did see a clip, sent to me by Fire, which I thought was quite good. But I love the prints just fine as they now stand.

I think for me the acid test is this: If TOS were being offered right now in the stores on DVD in both forms (as it really is now and as a remastered series), and the price were the same for both versions, I would opt for the series without remastering.

Fes,

I cannot condemn you one whit for being a purist. I don't know if you've followed the review threads or not, but in case you have not, you should know that the modifications do not diminish the content of the episodes in any way. The only complaint in that regard would have more to do with the editing of the episodes to run in the time allowed with current advertising requirements.

Still, I would encourage you to give them a look if you happen to have the time. You might be pleasantly surprised with the care and consideration that has been given to the upgrading of the special effects.

I've only seen one or two because of the time that it's on. 3pm on Sunday afternoon is not a time I am usually in front of the tv. This week I got confusd and looked for it on Saturday because I happened to be home and I didn't realize till a couple of hours after I missed it on Sunday that I had gotten the day wrong.....

I've seen two episodes, but I really don't watch it. If I wanted to watch Star Trek, I would just put in the DVDs.

Amen.

I hear ya'.

I've seen a few. I'm usually involved in something when the local station runs it here.

I've said in one of the first threads, I don't really care about special effects as long as the story is good.

I haven't seen any of them yet, but I've been following the discussions. Just haven't been able to catch one yet. I just have basic cable on the living room set, and I just haven't seen it in the listings of what I can get.

If/When they come out on DVD, I will definitely go for it.

I've had a similar problem. I can't seem to catch the "remastered" episodes. I've read articles on the "other" website as to which local channel supposedly will be showing the remastered episodes but I still can't find the exact day and time.

In the meantime, there's TOS on TVLand at 7AM and 12MN. (Just about the only times I'm home anyway) Would they be showing remastered episodes?

I saw the gallery of original and enhanced images from the "Corbomite Maneuver". The changes aren't subtle but they do enhance viewing. Personally, I'm not particularly keen on tinkering with the original episodes.
(call me a purist as well) Oh well, just so long as they don't rewrite ST history. :D
