You probably haven't heard because you are a Sony fan and not a Nintendo fan. My daughter and her friends have been talking about it for months. One of her friends has one on pre order and she is going to his house tomorrow afternoon to try it out. We are not getting one so fast, I have a Bat Mitzvah party to pay for in February and don't have the extra cash. The Toronto Star had stories on both systems in the paper this week and they were given equal publicity. |

Well, Sony fan I may be (Actually, i'm a fan of the games on the PlayStation not the actual console, if they were on the Wii and not the PS I would get one of those) but I should know when the Wii is released! Video Games are my life! |

^^^ The games for the Playstation tend to be more adult oriented while Nintendo specializes in games for the younger set. My daughter has no interest in the more violent adult games. |

I agree. Although i'm not a violent game nutter! Yeah, I enjoy games like Grand Theft Auto, but i'm equally as happy sitting and playing a game aimed at kids, like Lego Star Wars, which I love! |

My daughter's favorite games are the Legend of Zelda games. She really wants the new Twilight Princess game. We will probably get it for her for Chanukah, but she is not being very patient. |

I never got into Zelda, but then again I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the NES back in the early 90's! I heard good things about Zelda though, maybe i'll look into it one day. Right now i'm playing Metal Gear Solid 3 - suprise suprise... |

You see that is the type of violent game I wouldn't let a 12 year old near. |

I don't blame you. Not one for the kiddies, although the game rewards you for using non-lethal techniques over just running into a room and shooting aimlessly at anything that moves. The whole idea behind Metal Gear is stealth, completing your goals without being seen. |

I agree, but the guy did pay for it, hence he can do what he wants with it.

That was painful, Mike, watching those videos. Especially when they did in the 360. I like the bystander at the end who was at least smart enough to ask for the 'controller' I guess YouTube is a way now for just about anyone to grab their five minutes of "fame". What puzzles me about the PS3 (and to some extent the 360) is that you can't really appreciate it's full graphics power unless you have an HD tv set or at least a an HD compatible that takes component video. This guy I know is planning to camp out overnight to buy a PS3 but only has a 14 inch fifteen year old TV to play it through. I told him he'd be better off just going with his PS2 for a while and spending the money on a LCD or Plasma HD or HD compatible TV. For the cost of a PS3 he could buy himself a fairly decent one. Course, I should talk. I'm the guy who a few years ago bribed a store employee fifty bucks to bump me up on the list so that I could get an Xbox early.
Zelda is sort of a flagship title for the Wii and has been very popular for Nintendo units for years. I even remember the original N64 Zelda was pretty entertaining. I notice that most of the "adult" titles for the Wii are already available on the Xbox and PS platforms. The Wii is really just a souped-up gamecube but likely an excellent buy for the money. Sony is entering into one of the most notable "dice throws" of modern tech history with their PS3. They have projected losses for the first fiscal year in the millions (I've actually heard close to 1.2 billion) If the "blue-tooth" system doesn't catch on and become "industry standard" it will be all over for Sony. (worst case scenario) In the meantime Microsoft is ready to adapt to whatever way the market goes and still boasts better online features. They're currently building prototypes for a 360X that will allow one to use their Xbox as a virtual PC. My only criticism of my 360 is that it sometimes has to work hard while running some of the more sophisticated games. At times my unit sounds like a vacuum cleaner even though it never crashes or clips. Digifan may want to elaborate on some of my claims here. Right now the gaming console field is full of speculation as far as the future is concerned. |

Agreed. My brother in-law has a XBOX 360 hooked to a 50" Samsung HDTV and it looks wonderful. When my nephew hooks it to his 19" tube tv, it ain't the same. |
