In this thread, Im using a broad definition for Special Purpose Advertising Material to include anyone that tries to get money out of you for goods or services you havent actively sought out.

I dont get any Doorknockers nowadays, maybe companies have realised how inherantly dangerous it is, or perhaps there was some law that was past that I missed.

I find Radio ads worst than TV ads as they tend to shout at you a lot.

but above all else, I HATE TELEMARKETERS!!!

"Street Beggars" : we call them "panhandlers" here on the west coast.

In my town, when accosted by a panhandler asking me for money (mostly if it's a young male under thirty) I ask them if they'd like a job. Politely. I have a friend who runs construction sites. In fact there's one just a couple of blocks away. They always need a cleanup crew and it doesn't even pay too bad. I can even give you the construction company's number... I pretend to reach for it in my jacket pocket.

Nope. Not interested. They never are.

Sad, man. Sad.

^^^

Cos they get paid better doing what they are doing now.

They only need to get 8 people an hour to give them a $1 to do better than minimum wage, in a busy CBD area, that aint hard

I'll go with the telemarketers... Because, at least briefly, you actually have to talk to them! :banghead:

Unsolicited emails. I get so many emails at work for male enhancements and fake Microsoft products. It's ridiculous! I must delete fifty a day.

Emails. We are on the no-call list, so those hardly ever occur any more.

Telemarketers. Canada does not yet have a "do not call" registry, although we are talking about it.

My email provider is pretty good at separating out spam into a separate folder. I do check because sometimes they make a mistake on a legitimate mass mailing that I am signed up for. But I can do this at my leisure once a day. Telemarkers call when they feel like it, not when it is convienient to me. And I hate the most when they use computers to call a few homes at once and only talk to the person who answers first. I get a lot of dead air when I pick up the phone. What a waste of time.

Also, when the cans have been left out in the sun for days, the spam can be quite annoying.

 Fes!

I hate junk mail, especially the stuff that you get in magazines and newspapers.
You have to take them out, or the paper/magazine lays funny while you are reading it.

Then you end up with bits of paper all over the floor, particularly annoying if you buy one to read whilst travelling.

DCS,

The Reader's Digest is one of the absolute worst for having to take out inserts and other junk! And over the years, the binders have gotten a bit more saavy, using extra-strength glue which makes it even more difficult....

To be honest, I don't really like the Spam Lite or the Turkey Spam. Why mess with the original?
