Thanks for the link. I will put my faith and trust in a divine creator. Besides, there is evidence for that--much more so than there is for evolution, IMO.

A Robot in Disguise

i had a look around the website and had to laugh

I found this:

[dohtml]
<table>
<tr>
<td><p align="center"><img src="ismp-1.gif" width="79" height="61"
alt="ISM is truth (the instinct of Humans with no frills)"/></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><p align="center"><img src="ismp-2.gif" width="110" height="23"
alt="Revises it's conception of truth when necessary"/></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><p align="center"><img src="ismp-3.gif" width="143" height="24"
alt="Enhances social compatibility and exhaults wisdom which is a means to growth"/></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><p align="center"><img src="ismp-4.gif" width="180" height="26"
alt="Enhances social compatibility without providing a means to growth"/></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><p align="center"><img src="ismp-5.gif" width="212" height="27"
alt="Denies various aspects of Human instinct and rejects the will to power"/></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><p align="center"><img src="ismp-6.gif" width="252" height="29"
alt="Various incomplete conceptions of truth"/></td>
</tr>
</table>
[/dohtml]

Here

and then the site goes on to claim:

All nationalities and religions are welcome, though no religion will be endorsed, nor does UCOM intend to specifically cast shadows on any individual or organization that it may mention.

Even though the have a diagram of a pyramid implying Judaism is closer to there train of thought than the other religions

Funny that Somerled should post something from a website that holds Judaism in such high regard :lol:

Somerled,

Although I found the site interesting, I also found that it is filled with speculation, no more or less than a believer would be (or is). Again, it comes down to what one is willing to believe--whether it be scientifically-based or theologically-based.

Quote:

The first vestiges of civilization saw intellectuals, philosophers, attributing all the activities of Nature to unseen spirits, Gods, who must have omnipotent power because they controlled all of Nature. And mankind walked lightly through a world of dreams with mighty heroes and terrible demons hiding behind every hill unseen but watching man. These gods defined Human reality as Good and Evil according to the deeds of a person.

I've read this before in books on Primitive religions and (esp.) Animism. I find it fascinating, although I reject it nevertheless.

I find much of what is on this site to be conjecture, but presented as inevitability.

from the site link

The population of the Earth will grow tremendously. Once we have this much larger, vastly more diverse population a whole new world of realities will bloom into existence. Rather than 10 Geniuses we will have 10,000,000 and of them 1 will fly to heights previously unimaginable. The beauty of the future will be of such magnitude that it is incomprehensible in the current day. There will be a beauty such as comes forth only 1 in 500,000,000,000 and we will never see it in the current day.

To the author of the site this seems a forgone conclusion. Look at the language he uses. A tremendous increase in population means a 1 million fold increase in the number of geniuses? Idiots and bureaucrats out number geniuses already. So I guess if they get a proportionate increase in their numbers as well, we can safely assume that it will be even harder to detect a bonafide genius than it is now! Then there is the ever increasing possibility of some population shattering epidemic of unimaginable proportions which could possibly throw us right back to an earlier point on the timeline...

It's a strange but fascinating link.

The first thing that came into my mind were the songs, "The Visitor" (I don't recall the name of the group but it was a one hit wonder) and Gowan's "Strange Animal." :wow:

Maybe this will confirm the theory we are the end product of an evolution from chimps instead of apes? :shrug: :headscratch:

Digifan,

Thank you for using the word theory. That doesn't burn bridges for future conversations on the subject. :)

Mmmmm.................. Really didn't get much from that link.

And we're still barbarians. In fact, we're still the same people we were 8,000 years ago at the waterhole. It's just that now we call it the "mall", and we get there in our SUV while yakking on our cell phones.

The only hope for human civilization is to make ME supreme dictator.

Hey, at least there'd be another Star Trek series. :angel:
