How 'bout laying out your predictions for us all from your bracket? Don't be shy, you all! You know we'll all get shredded and embarrased when that #13 knocks off a #4. Just give your picks for the Sweet 16, Final 4 and Championship. Just to prove my basketball knowledge (or rather lack of it )..... For the first time, I succumbed to the lure of filling out a bracket. AFTER DAY 1, only four of my final 8 are left and only 1 of my final four. I suspect after today, I won't have to even watch the scores or the rest of the tournament. My last hope rests with Georgetown - which eventually would have to beat Villanova. Oddly I did lose because I went against my gut - I took Seton Hall (which I had actually heard of) over WICHITA.

How could you Wichita?!?!
Incidentally, with both Wichita State and Tennessee winning their first round games, it means that they'll meet next in the second round; sooooooo...my undergraduate and graduate alma maters are playing each other! What to do...what to do? I think I'll go for the Shockers. UT has football for their glory and I'd love to see WSU rumble into the Sweet 16...

Maybe surprisingly, I'm not that big a fan of the Spartans, although I went to school there. I'd like to see either Villanova (Wildcats) or UConn (Huskies) take it all this year. Where is Uwe Blab when you need him?

Pretty good so far HistoryDude. You got 10 out of the 16. I was kind of shocked to see Pitt lose to Bradley but that's the beauty of all of this. For the next 8, I'd like to see: Duke West Virginia Bradley UCLA Connecticut Wichita St Villanova Georgetown |

^^^ Especially since Pittsburgh had been playing very well in the last third or so of the season. That was a shocker, for sure. UConn and Villanova, baby.

Thanks Intrepid. My bracket is probably about average looking. Things always get shredded by this point! A few things. Great go for Wichita Sate (bachelor's '96) knocking out Tennessee (master's '98) to reach the Sweet 16. Interestingly, they play next the #11 seed in the region George Mason who knocked off the mighty Tar Heels. So one could say they could win because its the #11 seed and one could say they're in trouble since GMU beat Michigan State and North Carolina. I certainly hope they play well. Kansas exits in the first round for the second year in a row... And by a Double B again (last year it was the Bucknell Bison...this year the Bradley Braves). Hopefully, they'll re-bound (pun intended) and make a good comeback next year. They had an outstanding second half of the season losing only 15 of their last 16 and taking the Big 12 tourny, beating Texas in the final. And they're a very young squad with 4 outstanding freshman, so it looks good on paper, at least. But that's why the play the game.My Sweet 16 Duke LSU West Virginia Texas Gonzaga UCLA UConn Wichita State Villanova Boston College My Final Four Texas Kansas UConn Boston College |

^^^ Interesting list. I don't see LSU, Gonzaga, Wichita State (wouldn't that be a hoot?) or UW-Milwaukee advancing this far. I'm still pondering my dark horse teams. I usually pick two. Maybe Wichita State and Ohio, although I rarely think of the Buckeyes as being a dark horse in any sport. |
