T H E C E N T E R F O R R E S P O N S I V E P O L I T I C S Tom DeLay Legal Expense Trust *Updated 2/6/02 This is a list of donors to the Tom DeLay Legal Expense Trust, a committee formed by Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas) to raise funds for legal expenses related to a lawsuit filed by Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The lawsuit, which was dropped in spring 2001, alleged DeLay broke federal racketeering laws in soliciting funds for GOP candidates during the 2000 elections. Since its inception in July 2000, the committee has raised nearly $460,000 from individuals, private companies and PACs. I'm more interested in the fact that Earle went grand jury shopping when the first two grand juries refused to indict DeLay. Also, the foreman of the grand jury that did indict him appears to have not even needed to see the evidence since newspaper stories had already convinced him it was true---not to mention that he was friends with a candidate who got defeated after the districts were redrawn. Wow. See this article if you would like a source for this: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/politics/3384314 |

Administrative Response It's defamatory because without a link to the source we have no idea of whether this is a real list or one made off the top of someone's head in order to make certain people look bad. You were asked for a link hours ago. In the absence of a link I feel I do need to close this thread. If you have the proper information and wish to post it please let me know via PM and I can reopen the thread for you. End Administrative Response |
