I am starting to warm up to this series. After re-watching season one box set episodes they weren't as bad as some people claimed it to be. There were elements from other series especially TNG but the concept and principles of GR's vision in exploring the final frontier and understanding the unknown is still there. If we stopped comparing it to the other series, then this series can become quite enjoyable, even entertaining. Maybe this is exactly what I need to warm up to B&B's idea of a Star Trek prequel series - Repeated viewings. B&B's preception of GR's vision is different but the core is still there. What are your thoughts on season one? Did it changed your POV as it did with me? Remember don't try and watch them all in one sitting as Fes had ordered. It would mean we must give up something we call sleep. Nuff said.

I love season one. I love where the show begins in the pilot, the intro, although I am not a fan of that type of music, but the lyrics and the visuals really portray what Star Trek is all about. Humankind's thirst for knowledge and the courage of exploration. I really like the fact that many of the first season shows are about just that. The crew checking out space phenomenon like they often did in TNG. It doesn't always have to be about fighting aliens and blowing stuff up. Star Trek should portray the wonder of space and the spirit of exploration first. A lot of character development happens in this first season. The crew are all very three dimensional people, with a past and distinct personalities. The Temporal Cold War at this point actually seemed to be going somewhere, and when the show first aired, I was really interested to see what they were going to do with it. Little did I know they didn't know either. There are a couple episodes I am not so fond of. My least favorite show has to be Two Days, Two Nights. If it wasn't for the thing with Dr. Phlox waking up to set Mayweather's arm. But if Cutler had at least some medical training, don't you think she could at least set a bone?

Digifan, I thought it was a good season. I'm through about six episodes thus far (on DVD). I liked the writing and the characters. I would grade the season a B+.

Season 1 is a good season. But its still my least favourite of the 4, because in places it does get a bit dull - Strange new World, Breaking the Ice, Shuttle Pod 1 and Silent Enemy. Broken Bow, Unexpected, The Andorian Incident, Coldfront, Shadows of P'jem , Dear Doctor, Detained,Fallen Hero, TDaTN and Shockwave are top notch. I'm still upset about Terra Nova, it started off like it was going to be a great ep, had lots of potential, I thought, Yay! some back story on a late 21st century mission...............but then it turned into Mad Max 4 Fallen Hero is probably my fav of season 1 |

Yeah, season three was great! I got it on DVD the other day and went straight to Azati Prime and Damage - I missed them when they originally aired! Season three is IMO one of the best in Trek. |

I would love to hear your POV on season three, Mike, since it was, IMO, the worst season of the series but I like to leave this argument for another thread. For now I like to keep this thread on course before it get shifted into a tangent. I am going to watch and review the episodes from season one in this thread. I would love to hear your POVs on them as well. Stay tune... |

Time for some reviews. One of the most unusual episodes in season one is "Acquitions." Although the Ferengi were not mentioned by name, their rules of acquitions came directly out of TNG era. Ethan Philips playing a Ferengi again. That was a good one. Poor Porthos was locked in a storage box. Never mess with the captain's dog. Surely the Ferengi know the difference between an animal and "haw-mon?" Despite initial resistance I actually found this episode quite enjoyable. It was another underestimated and under rated episode of season one. I don't see why so many Trekkies hated this episode and gave it the black list treatment. |

Perhaps because so many of them believed continuity to have been broken, which it was not. I've watched it four times, and it's quite good. BTW, Jeffrey Combs and Clint Howard ("Balok") were also Ferengi in this episode. |

I'll wait for Season 4, and then I'll still debate buying it. |

I still dont understand why trek season sets are so dear. ENT here is $118 ( which is actually cheap for trek, TNGs are $179) But just about every othert series is around $59 -$69 Stargate Season 8 for example is $59 |
