Well, I wouldnt want to be Jesus, he's dead. I wouldnt mind be able to fly unaided, if I had heat vision that would save on electricity bills, and of course Xray vision would come in handy :brow:, all that would be cool, but I wouldnt want to have to wear that silly costume |

So what would you be flying around in? Perhaps black leather and shades? |

 sort of like a flying Terminator. It's interesting to note, just to add to some points that Psi has made, is that Superman really only affects the affairs of humans superficially. He interacts at the physical level, whether it be saving the Earth from mad aliens, villians, etc, and all their machinations which always pose mainly "physical" threats to humans. Although Superman proceeds from a general concientious moral center and is deemed "good", he really doesn't do much that affects the inner spiritual and philosophical dimension of humans. While having all these powers would be a blast, I would still rather have the kind of powers that empower and give something to the individual; something they can take with them and use in order to live. Something that helps humanity at the core level instead of just in their sorroundings. But yeah, throw in the ability to fly and it's all good.

Well, I imagine it would get pretty cold flying around up there, so I'd probably wear thermal underwear and a scarf

Somehow, I get the impression that he who is faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound as well as change the course of mighty rivers and bend steel in his bare hands (not to mention in his spare time fight a never ending battle for truth and justice) doesn't have to put on thermal underwear. What next? A vaporizer because the high altitude disturbs your sinuses? |

I had to pick other. I'd be off on the steppe, acting "in a manner reminiscent of Ghengis Khan." (pronounced JEN-JISS, spoken with jutted jaw and clenched teeth) (Sorry, that one just popped into my head.) |

As others have said I wouldnt mind having the powers of a Q. Being God would simply be too big a job therefore I wouldnt want to be Jesus Christ. Like Fes though I would want to be like him. |

DS, Yes, that's what I was getting at. I aspire to emulate him. To me it's quite clear in the N.T. scriptures that we are to be more like him. |

We are made in his image anyway so that means that we all have some reflection of God like features within us I guess. Perhaps thats things like creativity, abstract thought, compassion but also our various talents and gifts. Therefore by persuing our talents and making the most of them we are in a way becoming more like Jesus. At least thats what I think. |

God is Love and so are we although we have fallen far our original understanding of what this, our true nature is. God is Spirit and so are we, although we have fallen far from our original understanding of what this, our true nature, is. |

As I say I take it to mean that undefinable difference that humanity has compared to the rest of creation. There is something unique about us, we have a capacity for spritual thought, abstract ideas etc. That special spark we have, that is an image, all be it a very pale one, of God I think. |

That's a rather egotistical, human-centric position to take. (Although I do respect your right to take that stance). Because other beings haven't emulated our definitions of spiritual thought, abstract ideas, etc, doesn't mean that they don't have them. Humans are very discriminatory in that stance from my point of view. I find it very arrogant for us to believe that in the grandness of this cosmos that an omni-potent being has decided to give his full focus on one species. I also find religions and text of those religions also to be a bit of a show of arrogance of a group of people. I personally don't think an omni-potent being would need an interpreter. I don't need books that have been changed over time, even to the point of being changed to gain the favor of political figures, to tell me what is right and what is wrong or to define my spirituality. These texts are more rules, defined by humans, rather than an omni-potent being. How can the will of an omni-potent being be contained in a single book or series of books? It can't. Now not to say religions don't have positive aspects. They do bring people together and try to help their communities in various ways. Ok, I'm starting to ramble off toic so I will stop. This is all just my opinion and is not meant as a slight to anyone else. Oh and I wouldn't want to be anyone else but myself. I know my own positives and issues. I wouldn't want to have to learn someone else's. What a freakin learning curve it would be. It's taken my 35 years to understand myself Rich |
