Something Wicked This Fae Comes
I have been thinking about how much terrorism and the various Wars have occupied so much of my thought process since 9/11. It has become so much a part of my life for the past four years. One or all of the three topics I mentioned is always in the news (TV, Internet, Paper, Radio). There are reminders everywhere (bumper stickers, billboards, roadside signs). Some of us have or had loved ones serving in either Iraq or Afghanistan. So that brings the issue even more to the forefront. We come here to this site and there are usually fifty or so threads dedicated to the topics (only a mild exaggeration there ;) ). The influence of these Wars is almost impossible to escape.

What are the ramifications of having these events occupy so much of our mental energy?

Other - only really when its mentioned on the news, and therefore when I watch the news.

I see the threat form terrorism as a big media scare campaign, even living in a country that is part of the coalition of the willing, I still have a bigger chance of getting killed in a car accident, knock on wood.

The media attention given to these acts and the surrounding investigations gives fuel to the fire, the more it becomes the norm the less effective any attacks will be, the less influencial the islamic fascist philosophy will be, in the end the War on Terror will end because of our apathy

I suspect that for many of us it affects our thought processes most of the time even if it is at a subconscious level. I think Islamic Terrorism is only a part of Radical Islam. Radical Islam affects many other aspects of the world including WMD, genocide in Africa, border control & immigration, and many other world events.

BTW, are there many Muslims in Oz? What is the Oz immigration policy?

I voted for once a week. I'm too busy (and selfish) to give it too much more thought these days....

UNGH!
At the very minimum once a day. Only because I have friends that are in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait even. I often wonder how and when (not if) terrorism will rear it's ugly face on our shores and how we can no longer live a life of complacency when it comes to our own security.

So it's safe to say I get p*ssed off at least once a day.

This is probably the most healthy approach.

I think about it four or five times a day. I watch the news and read the paper daily.

How about a Voyager Movie
I voted other because for me it is every other day on average. I hear it Monday thru Friday on the radio but some days I miss it or I am engaged in more pressing concerns of life that I forget about the devious plotting shakes and abdullahs.
Their act has grown quite tiresome.
I wonder what a similar poll of Americans would have revealed in the 1960s about the Communists or nuclear war.
While I remain as Vigilant as possible, I have a life to live and the plastic sheeting I bought under advisement from ready.gov came in handy for puppy pooping.

It is now the world we live in but thankfully does not yet pervade my thoughts daily.
